Now that the Xbox 360 is old news ( http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif ), it's time now to turn out attentions to the Revolution. Gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com) has posted an article (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=7321) hinting at the possibility of some sort of pre-E3 2006 Revolution-related announcement.
Nintendo has announced initial details regarding its E3 2006 press conference plans, indicating in an email to media outlets that a May 2006 press briefing would include "details about Nintendo's upcoming games and hardware, including our next home console, code-named Revolution."

Oh wow, you mean by MAY 2006 they might talk about the Revolution in their pre-E3 conference!? MEGATON!

Emphasis on “code-named”. I tell ya, it’ll be called “Nintendo Point and Play” or something.
For the speculation I’ll just skip to where it inevitably goes every time with Nintendo megaton announcements: They’re going to announce a VR unit.

I hope it's called the "Nintendo Shizzle Stick"

How about: The Microsoft Shaft. Or, The Sony Sodomizer.

How about: The Microsoft Shaft. Or, The Sony Sodomizer.Ad: "Now anyone can play The Sony Sodomizer! Just pick up the easy to use Sodomizer Wand and pretty soon even Grandma will be able to golf with the best of them. And little Sally will just love making mario hop by waving the Sony Sodomizer in the air!"
Yeah I don't think that really matches their target demographic :P

Yea, that's suspicious, you may be right on that one. I'd prefer they stick with Revolution, but they're certainly not committing to it.

Maybe they are announcing a merger with Mattel or Fisher Price? ;)

Hey, that controller is extremely customizable and expandable. That thing can do anything.

The important thing is whether or not a rumble pack is built in.

I say that if Nintendo can get a console named "Nintendo 64", then they can probably pull off "Nintendo Revolution"
And really, Nintendo should just hop on the Sony/MS bandwagon of turning codenames into actual names without any thought.

Yeah, I like the name Revolution..
Something like "Nintendo Apex" or something to that effect wouldn't be bad either.

Somehow, I don't think that a name that says "This is it. It's not going to get any better after this." is going to get past marketing.

This just made me remember how late this thing is going to release. Before next-year's E3 it will still only be unveiling? Back when I was in the Church of Scientology... er... a Nintendo loyalist, I was forced to give up waiting for the Ultra 64 due to spending months behind all my nerdy friends and went and bought a Playstation. Since my deprogramming, I am sort of glad they bent we fans over backwards and raped my type, virgin asshole. I not, I might own a Gamecube today... or some other horrible torture device involving purple plastic...

I have the scoop, the revolution will "eat" your old systems and add their power to it's own. If you have a 360 and a PS3 and your revolution eats them, then the machine will become sentient. It will rise up against humanity, and thus the reason it is called revolution.

Hey EvilAvatar better not start doing news on the PS3 and Revolution now.
It would mean this site would be biased to them systems coming towards their launch ;)

Personally I think that calling it the N5 would kick ass.
Honestly they could call it the Nintendo Happy Purple Gay Homo Purse of Magical Corpse Humping Happy Happy Time!! and I'd still buy it to play some kick-ass first party titles. :p
Hell that might make me even more likely to buy it on day one. ;)

I think I would be much more excited about the Rev remote if it had a pistol grip type form factor, something more natural to being held. As it stands, the remote control format they are going with is going to cause a mass outbreak of carpel tunnel syndrome.
Some like a flight sim joystick ( the pistol grip part only ) would feel much more natural, would lend itself better to certain games ( flight sims, sword fighting, driving, etc ) and in the long run, would be more comfortable to use. I honestly dont think I could use something with a remote control form factor for more then 1/2 and hour at a time without eventual pain.
Then again... my profession hasnt done wonderful things for my wrists, so I may be the exception, not the norm.

I like the DirecTV TIVO remote...if they used that form factor it would be muy comfortable.

That'll probably be the first playable Revolution games. I predict riots, on and offline.

I remember some article predicting a final name along the lines of the "Nintendo 21" or something along those lines.
Then again, that artical was out before the controller was revealed, and also had some other pretty bullshit claims about it.
Even assuming I wasn't a Nintendo fanboy, if I saw a box labeled "Nintendo Wang" or something like that I'd have to buy one for comedy value alone.
I can just imagine the TV adds... "Need some Wang? Let Nintendo hook you up! Touching is good!" and the game instruction manuals? "To attack, swing the wang in an arc facing the screen."
