A calm week as the fall rush of games is officially over.
Say it ain't so!!
Usually, we can expect a nice trickle of top-notch games between Dec.-March. At least we aren't at the end of the Sep.-March gaming season. . . but I'm always a little sad when the month of TOO MANY FREAKING GAMES TO POSSIBLY PLAY is over. Still, I guess I'll go dry my tears on my copy of Perfect Dark Zero (at a friend's house since I was one of the unlucky X360 owners who received a lemon), and talk about how cool DOA 4 is going to be (if I can get my hands on another system in time).
Guess we'll have to wait for E3 before we know what to malign developers for holding off until the holidays to release again. :)

The only thing I look forward to picking up is Alkaline Trio's "Crimson" on crimson vinyl. I'm a fucking geek.

My shopping list for the week:
March of the Penguins
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Mrs. Smith version)
Lots of presents for The Wife.
And I will go see Aeon Flux, if only because I love Charlize Theron.

The supposed release date for that is next week.

Also, Murderball is out on DVD this week...

Sigh. Yet again I wish I had a DS. Stupid Mario & Luigi and all the fun they're having...
Hope against hope, I'm interested to see if the new PoP game is what WW should have been or if it's just a continuation of the butt-rock/bad-assssss extremening that was Warrior Within.
Otherwise, yikes! Quite the dry week as far as releases go. You can almost see the tumbleweeds blowing by...
I think that the only other game I'm really looking forward to before the end of the year is Kingdom Hearts 2... when is it coming out?
(kind of off topic)
Oh, and can anyone tell me what the release dates are for the PS3 and Revolution? I keep having people ask me and I myself am confused...

I do want to see Aeon Flux, although I will admit that my hopes for the film are far from high.

Some time in 2006, although you'd have to rub both Miyamoto's and Kuturagi's magic balls to get a definitive answer. :)

I'm pretty sure that there isn't a set date yet. Heck, we haven't seen a real in-game video from the PS3 yet. Anyway, Revolution probably next Christmas, and the PS3 maybe March in Japan and months later for us (which I think is a very early guess).
I don't really know, but I don't think anyone else does either. These are just educated guesses. Hope it helps.
Edit: Dang, fitbabits beat me to it.

Gametab and the game stores give a foggy date of March 1, 2006. It is being released in Japan on 12/22, so that's just an estimate.
FF XII has an estimated date of 8/06. That seems odd, but maybe they are trying to get it out in advance of the PS3 release.
I've played the demo, so that would be good. I'd probably buy it even if it released close to the PS3 launch, but it wouldn't be a certain purchase. . . and I'm a fanatic. More normal consumers would be much less likely to pick up this game on a system that will definitley be showing it's age by this time next year.

I got my list ready to buy when the last game comes out:
POP
Indigo Prophecy (kinda if-y, what do you think?)
Mario&Luigi: Partners in Time
Animal Crossing
I like to buy my games in bulk.
Later on when Electro Plankton comes out im going to get that and Ace Attorney and anything else good that comes out in that time frame.

It also kinda sucks, since Mike Judge has gone all Lucas on us and "improved" the original episodes (removing some pretty good jokes in the process). FUCK THAT NOISE

I'm kind of confused about when Animal Crossing is coming out for the DS. The latest EGM contains reviews for both Mario Kart and Animal Crossing, yet I thought AC wasn't coming out for another week or two at the earliest. They also don't have reviews for PDZero and PGR3 yet - they say those are coming next issue. So how can they review AC:WW now, when it isn't out in stores yet, when they haven't even reviewed PDZ and PGR3, which are out now - in the same issue in which they review Mario Kart, which came out a week or two ago. Stupid gaming mags.

Get the mario kart DS bundle, comes out tomorrow. You get a nice red DS, Mario Kart DS, and some decals or some such nonsense. Got mine pre-ordered and am going to pick up Animal Crossing: Wild World as well when it comes out next Tuesday.

Dr. Mario / Puzzle League (GBA (http://www.gametab.com/gba/dr.mario.puzzle.league/4947/))
Here's the real star of the week. If you've never played Tetris Attack or the (horrible to listen to/look at but still fun) Poke'mon remakes, you owe it to yourself to pick this up. The Dr. Mario is just icing.
Puzzle game enthusiasts take note! Or you might be missing one of the great games of our time.

<hollywood slo-mo dramatic moment> NOOOOoooooooo! </hollywood>
Dude, don't even joke about that kind of thing. Do yerself a favour, get a GP2x (http://www.gp2x.co.uk/) (Yay! No fighting the parent-company to use it for radical purposes like *games*. Yes Sony, I'm looking at you.) :D
It also kinda sucks, since Mike Judge has gone all Lucas on us and "improved" the original episodes (removing some pretty good jokes in the process). FUCK THAT NOISE
I only heard he couldn't acquire rights to any of the music videos. So you lose all the commentary to the music, some of which was damn funny but wouldn't make sense without the song.

Burnout Legends on DS... do any 3D games on DS look better then those 3D games on the Super Nintendo? So far, all 3d games on the Ds look terribly unimpressive.

I never expected the music videos to be on there. There's 11 included as extras on the third disc but they're not integrated with the episodes like they were on television, which isn't surprising. I'm talking about actual edits to the episodes themselves -- missing lines and even entire missing scenes (the Letterman cameo in "Late Night with Butt-head" is completely gone) which were always in the episodes before and were included on previous VHS and DVD releases but were removed by Judge from the new set because he doesn't think they're funny anymore.
