What do you get when you combine LOTR, the Matrix, ninjas and a cheesy medieval world? Watch the Trailer (http://www.fantasticfilmsinternational.com/new_detailed.html#dungeon)
and see for yourself.

This is a passionate, epic, fantasy adventure with non-stop action, vividly drawn characters, and a story line that will drawn you in with every passing, magical minute. Just as "Lord of the Rings" transported us to another world and time, IN THE NAME OF THE KING will lift your heart, mind and spirit. It will make you believe in magic, nobility, and the power of love, as Farmer's devotion to his family knows no boundaries...
Is this Uwe's first masterpiece?

Seems quite bad, however the line "I AM YOUR KING" had me laughing. This might be as funny as Alone In The Dark*.

*I do not recommend watching Alone In The Dark unless you have at least a few pints in you.

I wonder if the movie can suck as much as the games?

Oh God what horrible crap. What is wrong with Uwe Boll?

Nothing new here, literally. Typical Uwe Boll dialogue which is flat and cringe-worthy. Typical Uwe Boll plot which is cobbled together from various cliches and films that did it better. Typical Uwe Boll disregard for thematic cohesion, as evidenced by martial arts in a medieval fantasy setting.

What I can't believe is all the people he got to be in that pile of stink.

This is such a completely awful idea, it just might work. Come on, matrix ninjas in Middle Earth, that's some awesome shit right there.

Uwe Boll may finally do it, make a film so utterly terrible, it wraps around to being awesome.

Jason Statham playing a character named Farmer? Isn't this the Dungeon Siege movie? What's this In the Name of the King business, then?

Good gravy this looks bad. Ray Liotta's a perfectly fine actor, but he seems completely mis-cast for this type of movie. And Dr. Boll, why bother keeping the "Dungeon Siege" in the title at this point anyway? So you can get the 10 or so suckers that liked the game(s) to see this movie by accident?

Hopefully it will stay true to the series and every 20 minutes or so, the heroes have to port back to town to sell because their inventories are full. I didn't see one pack mule either. And Burt Reynolds seems bored in the trailer.

Damn, Uwe's movies are so terrible I'm actually disapointed that this trailer isn't working at the moment. Sorta like when you hear about a horrible car wreck but you can't get a good look as you drive by.

did anyone else notice that Turd Ferguson is in a mideval genre film? Stroker fucking Ace?

Uwe Boll: Get me Burt Reynolds
Production Assistant: Ok hold on, Hey Burt take off that pizza delivery uniform and get in the movie, dude
Turd Furguson: No that's correct, he had a pal named Scrappy.

How much of the movie is related to the game? I played a bit of Dungeon Siege (until I got bored of hitting the healing potion hotkey constantly) but don't recall anything from its plot or storyline.

My skin is prickling! Ever since Requiem I've been foaming for another Arnofsky. He dissapeared for so long, it's nice to see him back. A little bit of trivia: Did you know that Brad Pitt was originally cast in The Fountain? He dropped the roll after filming started because he thought that the plot line was too complex. Thus delaying the movie until what we see here, and also responsible for Arnofsky dropping the directing/writing role of Batman (passing it to Nolan).

Yes, yes I did. heh. Been waiting a long time for a new Aronofsky picture. After The Fountain fell under, and then Aronofsky & Frank Miller's Batman script didn't get picked up (there were competing Batman projects within WB, including a Batman vs Superman), I started to worry this guy wasn't going to get the shot he deserved. Glad to see he managed to resurrect The Fountain.

I'm of mixed feelings over Aronofsky not getting to make the new Batman picture. My disappointment vanished once I heard Nolan was aboard of course, and then the cast was gradually announced (and I wondered just how the hell they managed to get all those names in a 'comic book' movie) and the rest is history. But at the same time, the Aronofsky/Miller Batman would have been interesting to see. It was a huge re-interpretation of the character, and would have provoked an unprecedented backlash from fans, but still. It would have been interesting to see.

As for Uwe. From what I saw of the trailer it looks like he might have actually blown some money on a semi-decent cinematographer, or at least someone who knows the faintest thing about lighting. That's about the creepiest thing for me about Boll's films - they all seem to be lit like creepy 80's European porn.

I watched as much of the trailer as I could. I felt like it was trying to be a poor man's Lord of the Rings. Maybe it is good maybe it isn't, but I would think Uwe would want to stay as far away from Peter Jackson's work as he could. The last thing he needs is for people who already hate him to take even more cheap shots at him for trying to measure cocks with Peter Jackson.

We could make it a fair fight by only looking at Jackson's earlier movies such as Bad Taste. I guess even that isn't fair because although the movies may be on par Peter Jackson didn't have anywhere near the budget Uwe Boll gets for his creations.

Bad Taste is a piece of cinematic brilliance. I remember renting that as a joke with my friends back in grade school. We fell in love with it and watched it twice a week for the rest of the school year.

Looks ok to me. Big fight sequences, gravity redefining stunts, below average acting and Jason Statham! If this movie wasn't directed by Boll no one would take a shit on it. If you think AitD was crap for example, you people haven't seen Electra or Catwoman. Now THOSE are shitty movies, that also cost twice and four times more than AitD.

The loophole closure won't go into effect until next year. So he might yet be able to squeeze out one more cinematic abomination.

This came up a while back - while the biggest loophole that allowed his movies to be funded was closed, there are other countries with similar laws and movies that "lose" money are always a good tax dodge for the super rich.

Look at the first Fantastic Four movie... it was filmed for two reasons - to keep from losing the rights to the characters and as a way to burn up a couple of million so the studio could show the film as a "loss" during that tax year.

He will be able to keep making movies as long as those movies make money (and his flims do make money... not much, but enough) and as long as it is a good tax dodge for investors.
