I believe it's supposed to be just a screenshot, I've never seen one before so I guess it's like a first time thing. I can't really tell anything by the screen.. but those 3 names sure are convincing :)

Not the most "wow" screenshot (with regards to what the gameplay would be about). But looks like good lighting and draw distance. I'll wait until there's more data out about it.

I love the contours on the fat cat-like thing's body. I only hope that if I zoom in I'll be able to see every single roll. Very impressive I must say.

Apparently the best things about this from the easrly builds is the animation. There's no jerky transition between actions, like walking/running and when you turn, the characters body moves appropriately. The shift from moving/attacking is supposed to be exceptionably fluid too.
It's all rather nice, but it doesn't help us decide if the game is going to be any good or not.

Wow, look at that action -- that screenshot without any source or link to explain anything more about it sure shows the action of the game really well!
Is a single screenshot that isn't even very large or all that impressive and 4 lines really newsworthy?
Don't get me wrong, the game might be fantastic, but come back when there is actually something substantial and newsworthy.

The sad thing is, when an RPG is mentioned for the 360, especially a Japanese/Anime one, suddenly people take notice and make "newsposts" about it. Where were you for the past 5-6 years when the PS2 was/is getting bombarded by such games?

I'm fed up with Toriyama artwork. It's boring and cliche. Admittedly, it's cliche because a lot of people copied him, but the point remains. Still, this could be good. I'm not a big JRPG guy, but this looks like it might be a good place to dive in.
The shot is newsworthy, I'd say. I mean, what's the DOWNside to posting it? Do you pay a nickel for every headline you read? Where's the beef? More info is always good. But I will say that the content of the article isn't that great. What's the source? Is there a link to some info on the game?

I thought all you guys agreed that Redcloak is J Allard?
Anyway, 4 days later than other websites and only one magazine scan? You guys should try going to places like The Magicbox (http://www.the-magicbox.com/0511/game051120f.shtml) for more pics.
If you've never heard of The Magicbox then I've just done you a favour - it's an extremely good gaming news website and highly accurate. It updates every few days rather than rushing to post stuff that can't be substantiated. We're talking quality over quantity here folks.
The game appears to have a good pedigree - it's just a shame that it gets cheapened by Redcloak using it as a cheap shot in his little propaganda campaign.

You know, the only reason I'm plowing through Toriyama's terrible art in Dragon Quest 8 is the pedigree of the game itself, and the only reason I'll be plowing through his cavalcade of generic tripe in Blue Dragon is the pedigree of Sakaguchi, and my enjoyment of Uematsu's music. Nothing could make me un-enjoy the look of this game anymore, though. I wish Toriyama would either just stop, or adopt an art style that isn't so base and irritating to anyone who likes something other than primary colours painted over primary shapes.

If a news post doesn't interest you, then don't read it. The mods put in a lot of unpaid effort to review and approve news for us readers. You insult them by questioning what is a worthy or non-worthy news article.
(back on topic) I wished they hadn't used Toriyama. His character designs are juvenile and remind me too much of Dragonball Z. But playing as a cute little kid is better than the affeminate teen boys in recent Final Fantasy games.

Mistwalker is making 2 games for the 360. Dragon Blue is supposed to be a more pop/bubblegum RPG for the slightly younger games, their other title (name escapes me at the moment) is supposed to be a much more "mature" game.

But that's what the forums are for. Every time a new game comes out with a screenshot or a scrap of info, it isn't really front page news. Yesterday I created a thread about Level 5's Rogue Galaxy rpg and the new trailer Sony and Level 5 just released to the public, and I didn't even consider putting it out on the front page. THAT was more news than this. Hell, I had a link.
Again, not all news is front page news. Red Cloak must have self approve status; then again, I'm sure he's probably the one who's writing out the website's paychecks, so I'm not surprised.

Article? Where? I don't see one? All I see is a screenshot without a source or a link. For all I know this could be photoshopped. If there was a link, possibly some description of the game, maybe even a release date. Well then shit, looks like some new is there. But right now there is a screenshot with words, and it says look at the lighting. What fucking lighting? It's a scan, could be a prerendered image for all I know! And if it wasn't for the mentioning of microsoft's involvement I wouldn't even know what system this was for.
Also, the fact that Redcloak hasn't seen the griping and edited his post for a damn link or at least some extra information shows he really just doesn't give a shit.

Yea, I thought that was odd too, same types of things I kept seeing for Kameo. I think people get excited about a next-gen game, then have to validate that excitement by finding a way it's graphically impressive (even if imagined). I think they need to stick to "this looks like fun", personally, I think that should be enough.

The second game is named "Lost Odyssey", and the three screenshots that are up for it at Mistwalker's website look tasty enough. I'm really excited about both of them, which isn't really surprising as I think the JRPG world peaked at Chrono Trigger. It is a double plus shame that people associate this artistic style with Dragon Ball, and not CT, which is what I think of whenever I see it.

We can't help it though. Being subjected to years of that horrible TV series just broke any interest I had in Toriyama's artwork. I played Chrono Trigger before I'd even heard of Dragon Ball, so at the time I thought the artwork was pretty interesting. I'm all for second chances though, so if that team is working together again I'll give it a shot.
I do agree though. Red Cloak should have provided a link and/or a little more info here. He posted like this game is a pop culture icon and we would all know exactly what he was talking about from the heading. This is the first time I've even heard of this game.

And really, there is an important distinction that needs to be made here. The cartoon entitled "Dragon Ball" was actually kind of good, IMO. It was fun. Everything that happened once they tacked a Z onto the title sucks donkey balls.

Say what you will about Toriyama's artwork but he really has a knack for imaginative and cohesive character designs. I also enjoy the fact that his characters have facial expressions and don't have those cold, empty eyes I've been forced to grow used to in current-gen RPGs. Also It just so happens pretty much every RPG he does the designs for turns out to be absolte gold, so I have high hopes for this one. If the 360 has this kind of continued support from RPG developers I might consider buying one.

That was the first time. Then he made Spirits Within, losing Square over 100 million dollars, which ended up causing Square to merge with Enix.

Amen. Dragon Ball is a hilariously great anime from way back. Dragon Ball Z, etc. are utter tripe.
I'm not going to knock the art style as that one shot shows us nothing AND I am currently loving DQ8's art. I also have to concur with the people mentioning CT's art. It was fantastic at the time and this was long before DBZ became the scourge on the anime world that it is now.
As for the newspost, I was wondering what system it was for myself until I looked closer and saw the MS mention tucked away at the bottom. I've posted some bad news stories myself but this takes the cake. Definately forum material, not front-page. I mean, it should have at least had some reference links and stuff like, oh, what system it was coming for posted a little more explicitly.

Agreed. Why do people get so hung up over whether a game is aimed at kids or not? It seems like you can automatically tell if someone is a teenager trying to act older than they are if they start complaining that a game is too kiddy.
There are lots of games that are aimed at kids that are a blast to play.
There are lots of games that are aimed at adults that are a blast to play.
There are lots of games that are aimed at both audiences that are a blast to play.
There are lots of games aimed at any of the above that are complete and utter tripe and should never have seen the light of day.
I'd rather have a cutesy game that is a blast to play and leaves me grinning than a gritty game that makes me want to hurl the controller through the screen because of poor gameplay and execution.
