The boys of Delta Squad are back in Gears of War 2. The overwhelming consensus from critics is that this sequel is improved in almost every respect: environments, weapons, action, multiplayer, and more. This is saying a lot considering how well the original was received. So what did you think of it?

Loved it. The fact that i can play with bots is awesome. no foul mouthed teenagers ruining the gameplay.
No other game touches the sheer variety or art and locals in that game. Top end work is sound, animation, control, etc.

Despite the multiplayer glitches, this game is solid and fun as hell. A nice, epic campaign which is great either solo or co-op. Horde mode is just a blast to play. The multiplayer needs some tweaking, but is still solid. The dialogue in the game is great, too (at least all the great one-liners).

I love Horde mode!
Though I voted 'good', I quite enjoyed the game. A definite improvement over the first. Still, I didn't feel I could vote 'great', as I never really went back to it after finishing it co-op.

Well I threw in my Poor vote.
My friend and I had great fun playing Gears 1. But after playing so many great games between that and now, Gears 2 was absolutely nothing special. The gameplay was exactly the same, and worse at times (lots of riding on stuff and manning various turrety things). Sawing off a worm's arteries and then sawing through its body... was way too hokey to take even a bit seriously. Then you have a boss with magically blue tentacle hot-spots, and an end-boss where all you do is hold down right trigger for a little while.
I don't like to mention graphics when reviewing a game, but the graphics weren't great either. The entire color pallet was the same dullness that was Gears 1, but made more uninteresting by the "done it before" vibe.
Ah well. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the awesomeness that is Dead Space. Among many other things that game did better, it sure beat the hooey out of Gears 2's end-boss fight.

Well Dead Space bosses had magical hot-spots as well, my inconsistent friend. I loved Dead Space, loved it. But saying Gears is crap compared to it is just ridiculous beyond discussion.

Well, all bosses have hot-spots, but not all bosses have hot-blue vanishing-and-reappearing ones with poor hit-boxes. - - - - - Plus, you cannot tell me that any of the bosses in Gears 2 were satisfying or entertaining kills. Cannot!

Pfffffffffft. Of course I can. Bosses in Gears 2 were satisfying and entertaining kills. SO THERE!
Seriously, I'm not expecting everyone to think that it was a great game but calling it poor is a little hyperbolic don't you think? For someone named JasonGrey, you have a pretty black and white vision.
Have you noticed how lonely (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=918) you are too? All alone by yourself! Nobody to keep you company.
Nobody.

You shut your dirty mouth!
Gears 2 took the idea of Gears 1 and gave us an actual game. Looking beyond any bugs the game may have (which I have never seen used in online gameplay) it gave us a great campaign mode, refined the engine and graphics and gave us more to do than "squat behind a barrier and shoot someone". The extra enemies that were added even gave the game that extra oompfh that it needed, which really shines in Horde mode!

I voted Good. Horde was a great implementation, I love it. I felt they really fixed most of the issues with multiplayer as well (though they really need to handle downing chainsaws with bullets like they did in the original).

There is a lot of content with Gears 2. Horde mode, co-op, multiplayer, bots and a good size campaign. One of the few games this year worth the $60.
