View Full Version : Weekend Gamer - Thanksgiving Edition - What are you playing?

Here it is coming up on Thanksgiving in America. A time of stuffing ourselves, watching football, and hopefully, having two days off. Which makes this a four day weekend. After I finish cooking what I am bringing over to my aunt's house, I plan on playing WoW (just started playing it again. While I hate the travel time for certain areas, the game is still great), and some CoH. What are you playing? How are the 360 games? Which ones do you recomend? Are you happy or disappointed with the system? In other words, what are you playing this weekend? And, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
Quake4, Civ4, and CS.
Life is good.

Disgaea, SotC, Darwinia, and FFIX.
FFIX is a "nostalgic" second playthrough. SotC was beautiful to beat, and them there time trials are pretty fun too.
Probably a lot of Socom Fireteam or another portable game since I have a bad case of diarrhea. :o
When I am not in the bathroom I will probably give Condemned a go.

Mario Krack DS, Castelvania Dawn of Sorrow, Advance Wars DS, R-Type Final, and if I can get the Sims 2 away from my other I will open up Quake 4, CoD 2, or The Movies.

I'm playing my 360, mostly PDZ. Multiplayer is simply awesome... and I'm like 16th place in Dark Ops. I plan I moving up into the top ten soon :)
The sword, by the way, kicks ass. So does the boomerang and sheild.

Saw that in the bargain bin at Wal-mart today, probably gonna pick that up when I have time to give it some attention.
Kotor II (lost count of how many times I've played thought it), some CS: Source, and pining for a 360 and PD0 that I likely won't get until the semester is over and I'm back home.

Me too! 20 hours in.
I just wish there was a quick way to see how many points you needed to boost a skill without having to go all the way back to Perigon Wharf or whatever that place is called.
I'm also working on my various movies in The Movies. I've got a special one just for Kelegacy :)
Other than that, just working. I might be doing the overnight shift tomorrow which means more DQ8 lovin'. Gotta love being paid to stay awake and play videogames.
Enjoy your turkey, my U.S. friends!

I'll get some CoH in, hopefully, and now that I've moved my second TV into the kitchen and hooked the GameCube up to it, I'll probably finally be able to finish Tales of Symphonia.

Yeah Spigot, there's a FAQ at GameFAQ that tells all you need to know about the skills; it's in the latest Walkthru text.
My question is: how the heck do I upgrade my alchemy Pot to 3 slots? In game time, I'm currently doing the quest for RED to get the horse princess back.

Playing KOTOR II is like having sex with a hot hot woman.. say.. Jewel Staite (Serenity/FireFly) to only have her punch you in the nuts as you are about to cum. Then doing it over and over and over again. Always so hot.. always so sexy.. but allways the nut punch right at the end.

WoW and going back to play HL2, since I never finished it, with my 4 days off. :) Would have probably played FEAR instead since I finally installed it, but promptly realized Q4 and HL2 can't touch it in required specs. So that will have to wait until I can afford a new vid card. :(

Luckily, BF2: Special Forces is a big chaotic ball of super fun.

I know I could just find a list of the skills. I don't want that. I just was hoping there was a quick way ingame to see how many points you needed to hit the next rank in a given skill. I want them to be a surprise though, hence my avoidance of GameFAQ's and all its FAQly goodness.
Ah well, I'll keep muddling through.

Bah. I want to read A Feast For Crows but after getting two chapters in I realized that I can't remember a thing about what is going on or who most of the characters are. So I'm going to start back at the beginning and reread the whole stupid series. Sigh. At least I have lots to read through Christmas now.

Playing the I have to work game.
Aside from that I will probably try to work on my D&D campaign a bit, as well as prepare for the leap into Epic levels this Saturday in the monthly D&D session my friend runs. Never played an Epic character, actually.. right now is the highest level character I have played in a non-crpg D&D game, which is sad considering it is only 18th level.
I have been really big on D&D lately, probably because I can not afford a new computer, thus any new games are pretty much out of reach. And I do not really have money to throw around on games for the Xbox of PS2, nor can I afford, or find for that matter, a 360. D&D it is, couple two liters, bag of chips, few bucks to pitch in on pizza and I've got a whole night of gaming with some good friends.

Tomorrow probably some board games with the assembled family/friends, as well as some Halo 2 and Burnout: Revenge. I'll be in the retail trenches most of Friday. *whimper* But after dealing with consumers and their grubby-handed ways, I'm going to play Starcraft. Still working my way through Trauma Center: Under the Knife. And I'm considering reopening my Dark Age of Camelot account for a month to check out the latest expansion pack.

Happy Food Eating day everyone....be thankful for all of your good fortune.
Cooking, eating, drinking all day.
WoW, and trying to finish the missions in RE4 to finally get the handcannon. Only need to get Hunk 2 more 5 star levels.
I am playing HL2 for Xbox...not bad. I am actually impressed with what the XBOX can pull off. Been playing a ton of WOW lately. I still dont understand how that game sucks me in. Other than that its cooking, eating and drinking and not in that order :)

I just beat Jak II today for the ps2. I got it before school started, had some time over the break to wrap it up.
Some things were hard, the camera at one point was stupid. It turned imo too slow, as you were being chased.
However, the worst thing came at the end. The game auto-saves. I walked into the final boss with my dark eco meter full. In Dark Jak mode on the final boss you can take off about 1/4 of the bosses health (it's divided into 1/3's). I used my 10 Peacemaker shots and a dark eco blast to bring him to his final 1/3. He then gets down and chases you. I quickly died. Now, when I respawn, I have no Peacemaker shots, and no dark eco. So I reload my point auto-save point before the boss. However, it auto-saves during the cutscene before the final 1/3, so I no longer had my dark eco meter or Peacemaker ammo. Luckily, through mad hopping, I got him down to the final 1/3, and then I took my time for a while chipping away. I beat it, barley (2 bars left, and a normal hit takes of 2 of 8).
I'll probably play some more Jedi Academy, maybe some FF: Dawn of Souls. Right now, I'm playing "Reinstall Everything after a format." With just Googletalk, AIM, MSN, and Xfire running, I had 56% processor usage, on my 900 mhz athalon. Something else was there, and AVG, Adaware, and Spybot couldn't find it. All better now.

My PS2 (30001 model, old hunk of crap) finally bit the dust today after nearly five years of faithful service. After sending it to SCEA for a disc read error repair about a year and a half ago, it sounds like (and looks like, after I decided to take it apart and look at it) the disc drive motor just quit working. Now I'm stuck with a broken PS2, a lovely 200GB softmodded hard drive, and no idea what I'm going to do. I'm too afraid of buying a used system from Gamestop/EB or anything like them...any word on when Sony's gonna announce a price drop on the slimline PS2? I had my fun with the modding, but perhaps it's best I just pop that hard drive into a computer or something.
So. Rather than rocking out to Guitar Hero all weekend - as was the plan - I now have to improvise.
My friends and I are putting on our third annual Thanksgaming party this Friday. I hear there'll be four Xbox 360s there. I've yet to even see one in person, so I'm a little excited to try out Perfect Dark Zero.
I also hoped to play some Battlefield 2 this weekend, but apparently my computer can't run it anymore. I reformatted after trying every other crazy idea I had, so hopefully we'll see very soon whether it's capable or not.
Grr. I don't have $150 to spend on a PS2... :(

I'll be plowing through the 150cc portions of Mario Kart DS. Dry Bones rules. If I have some more time, I'll dip into FF:Tactics Advance, and start a hard mode game of Castlevania: DoS.
Even though I work in the corporate section of a retailer, I'm being forced to work in a store on Friday, and its not even a chain that carries anything fun like videogames. Oh well.
After work on Friday, I'm going to dig through some used Videogame stores to try and find a Gameboy Pocket and Mario Kart 64.

Mario Kart DS (still unlocking) and Zelda 4 Swords with the kids (yes, again!), I'd like to finish off Castlevania DS (if I'm hard enough... right at the end looking for those 3 souls). Mario Kart: DS. I'm hoping it's harder than Double Dash - DD got to the point where I could beat a 150cc circuit with no effort or challenge whatsoever. So far, so good: I almost got my ass handed to me on a few 100cc circuits.
Still going through a bunch of games I bought for my new PS2. Jak & Daxter, Shadows of the Colossus, Ico...
There's so many good games coming out. I want to spend all my money on my gaming habit, but Christmas is coming up. The girlfriend will expect many presents. And I'm already a fucking grinch - having to spend all my money on her isn't going to help things.

I actually spent the last day playing Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects on the cube.
I got it from my rental service and didn't expect the Cube version but it worked out for the best as I ended up working the overnight shift again last night, thus allowing me to borrow a Cube from one of the guys at work instead of lugging my PS2 in to play DQ8 all night.
Marvel Nemesis is a fun little brawler for the 2 days or so it'll take me to polish it off. I'm at least 2/3's or more of the way through it after about 4 hours of playing, so I'm glad it's a renter.
Interesting take on the Marvel universe via crazy button-mashing brawler action. But at least it'll be over shortly so I can get back to DQ8.

I work in a residential group home. When you're doing the night awake shift you are paid to sit there and make sure nobody gets up in the middle of the night and runs away.
Soooo.... I just sit in the living room and play games all night when I do those shifts. I can see all the doors in and out of the place and it helps to keep me from nodding off around 4-5 am when it's impossible to stay awake at the best of times. I usually bring in a DVD to help kill some of the time too. If only my day shifts were as quiet as when everyone is sleeping.
It's a great job but definately not for everyone.

I don't know, Kelegacy... Some of the people there make you look downright normal.
And I'm talking about the staff.
If you think that's an easy job though, there are some houses that have night sleep shifts. That's right. You get paid approx. $12/hour to SLEEP.
