Yahoo News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051123/ap_on_hi_te/precious_xboxes;_ylt=AoI7Q4gt38FqrvERBUidSXARSLMF; _ylu=X3oDMTA4ZnRnZjhkBHNlYwMxNjk1) has a story on people buying Xboxs on Ebay for bukko bucks.

EBay said the average price for consoles, including those sold with games and other add-ons, was $660. However, the company said some console packages were selling for as much as $2,500, with bidding and sales prices varying widely.
I don't want to even think who is willing to pay more for the xbox then the price tag of $400..gosh in my opinion $400 is a scam. I will enjoy severals months from now the price drop on the console and look back and remember all the people that paid $400 or more.. :D :D :D

Haha, I saw that image and caption somewhere else earlier this morning and thought the same thing. And aren't those just the Live packs or whatever?

Someone sold an Xbox 360 BOX... just the BOX it came in, for over $600....
If that doesn't tell you how smart some consumers are, nothing will.

And I'll look back on the months of fun I've had while you've been waiting for a price drop and laugh at you for being poor. :D :D :D

ps2 was the same.. AVERAGE console price was 1k-1.5k, so snagging an xbox 360 for 700$ seems to be diminishing returns for the evil doers.

I considered getting one to sell, knowing that everyone in this world is crazy, but i was lazy/have no money.

I should be thanking you. 6 months to a year from now I'll have a more reliable version of the console that's playing 2nd generation software which doesn't reek of launch stinkiness, and I'll get more for $400 than a freakin' console. None of this would be possible if early adopters like you didn't fork out to fund Microsoft's R&D toward a better version of the 360.

No kidding, releasing this worldwide at the same time was a bad mistake for production. To meet the demand, how thoroughly did they really test each system?

I'd be really surprised if they drop the price in as early as 6 months. Even so, there are some *hawt* titles coming out by then, many of which are unique to the 360. I'm not saying your *wrong* just that you may be waiting closer to a year for a price drop, based on past systems. When did the PS2 and X box see the first price drop, out of curiosity? It felt like lots later than 6 months.

Good or bad, this is the free market system at work. These auctions only work because some people are willing to pay a premium. It's a good deal for the sellers because they have the units to sell. It's a good deal for the buyers because the units are valuable enough (to them) to justify the cost. $400 is a good price for what you get. It's a personal value judgement. There's no real right or wrong here.

(Except of course the people selling the empty box and intentially misleading people into thinking they are getting a unit. They should be imprisoned.)

Nah man I saw what dude on ebay selling the box for 500 bucks, it clearly states about 35 times in the description that they are only getting the box.

OR you could be thanking me for making a lot of money, the taxes on which probably covers the amount of your welfare check. :p

Can't wait to spend an inflated amount for a system that will be readily available in 2 months.

And by that time there will hopefully be a game that will make me really want one.

Slightly unrelated, but someone I know picked up a Core unit from EB Games, walked 150 yards to the line at Best Buy and sold it there and then for $800 cash. Craziness.

Xbox at 6 months (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox#Price_history) and PS2 at 18 months (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_2#Price_history). Seems like May is the magic month, to coincide with e3 I guess.

Still it's seems a little silly to wait 6-18 months to save a $100, on average you're like saving only $10 every month you wait.

LOL, quote " I will enjoy severals months from now the price drop on the console and look back and remember all the people that paid $400 or more" quote oh sorry, when i said that i did not mean that i was actually going to buy one ;)
Almost every game that comes for the xbox there is a a pc version, oh i mean almost every game that comes for the pc is release as well in the 360. Anyway i'm not interested in one.
Sorry if i offend you or something that was not my intention with the quote of the post i made. ;)

Remember this, maybe we live in a world that is focus in materials stuff but that its not all in the world, yeah maybe i'm not rich boy like you but its good to know that so you can live better if you know what i mean, but if you don't know oh well.. :o

Enjoy your 360

The box for sale is true but I helped to get the auction stopped by ebay...go into the community section and search for the thread called ridiculous in the auction listings forum...By the way , I bought a XBOX 360 for 560 dollars lol , its no big deal to me as EVERY system release for the last 15 years has cost me around 600 - 800 bucks as I always bought the import consoles months before they were on sale here in the USA so Im used to spending a lot for my consoles and at least now everything is in english :)
