View Full Version : Australians must wait until March for Xbox 360
Microsoft has announced the Xbox 360 will launch in Australia on March 2, some three months later than North America, Europe and Japan.
While Microsoft looks like achieving a fairly simultaneous launch of the console in North America, Europe and Japan, Australian gamers are going to have to wait a while. Us Europeans only have to wait until December 2 (longer if you're not fortunate enough to get one at launch), but the Aussies have to wait around three months, which will be a very painful experience for many.

I'd like to have proof of these "major" quality issues. Something from a reputable news source.

Mine runs fine. Damn quiet too. Except for Gun, (which locked up on me), but since I then went on to play more taxing games nonstop for about 8 hours, I think the problem was that those Neversoft guys screwed something up and not that the Xbox was stressing.

More than a couple people here have reported issues. That should say something.

We got Mario Kart DS before you and unless you pre - ordered your not doing any any Xbox360ing till march anyway.
I think the deal with end first qtr in Aus is we all become terribly active buggers over christmas barely a sober Australian in sight.
We all piss up take holidays and generally spend time in the sun chasing hot girls around. when im not at work (playing regional MKDS)
Im 23 couldnt be happier I dont have to shell out 800 calms till March these next few months are expensive fun but expensive.
It would be nice as an under the tree gift but damned if my folks would have ever bought me one as a kid anyway.
Unless they combod it with my January birthday :( doubt they would have even done that made me sell each console to buy the next.
Play your fancey Xboxs now WORLD as soon as the 2nd gen titles start rolling off the line we will be right there waiting 6 months
to play them as 2006 XMAS HOT RELEASES! They most definatly will not be.
I heard all these rumors of global release including us in "PALCONVICTICA" jumbo jets etc cash suicide. Shipping them here on a
cheep slow boat is sensible make us wait get a nice end 1st QTR boost from the convicts after everyone is tapped out from
Christmas and my birthday :)
And sif a few months wait is anything trying waitng 8 years for a metroid game.

Well I know the same guy posted about it twice, and there was a guy before that who thought his was defective but it turned out that his A/V cable wasn't push into the 360 all the way.
BTW: Maybe Australia's government should grow up before anymore consoles are released there. I'm not too keen on people banning games just because some dick thinks it's immoral to play such a game.

Hmm, about the same time us Americans will get one. It really hasn't launched here either as far as I can tell.

There are always going to be launch problems, some units are going to rendered faulty, but that does not necessarily smudge the enitre inventory.

I've been reading the official XBOX.com forums. You know what? These little posts didn't start happening until late on Tuesday, and as far as I can tell most are copy-cat trolls.

Is there an official reason for this delay?
I mean, between me and you, it's kinda a no-brainer. They can't meet pre-order demand (much less walk-ins) in the US, EU, or JP...it's no wonder aussies have to wait another 3 months.

We have a games rating system that doesn't include a restricted R18+ rating. Therefore, any game that should receive that rating gets banned.
There's been about eight in the last five years, and five have had minor edits and been released anyway.
That said, we also have a clear, succint and easy to understand ratings system for games that makes a lot of sense, bar the lack of the R18+, so fuck you and your state-based random lawmaking, and your crazy attorneys, and your fundamentalist psychos.
All that said, we knew this was going to happen. When the Xbox 360 dates were first given out, there was a little announcement a couple days later that gave the Aussie date as 'early 2006', which means March at the earliest.

Yip, and has no idea what he's talking about. People like to play up the censorship in Australia, it's no where near as bad as people like to make it out to be.
Anyway, I'm content enough to wait. The price is actually a lot better than I was expecting. I was thinking it would be about $800 for the premium. Maybe by the time it comes out over here there will be games that I give a shit about :P Not that I think the launch titles are bad, I just don't see anything on there that makes me want to fork out a lot of dollars for the console

No big surprise. I'm buying Meteos today, because it was released today (at least in Perth). Still no release date that I can find for Shadow of the Colossus or the new Castlevania :(

Castlevania DS is out already, or should be.
SotC is due in mid-February.

We recently had that entire MA/R/whatever system revamped, and they didn't add an R18+. Yes it's incredibly stupid, and I'm sick of getting incomplete because of it. Ruddock has, and always will be a waste of flesh, and this is coming from a conservative.
DS games I suggest ebay. Yes I know you can't buy GBA games there anymore but the pirates haven't worked out how to make DS games yet it seems. I get mine from a guy in Singapore, all legit (I check each cart).
And we've known MS was going to screw us for ages.

The power unit is the size of a housecat? The internal fan is so loud you need to turn up the TV to hear over it?
