HEY! Do you want to play the Killzone 2 demo and see what the deal's about? Is it going to be as hot as that infamous CGI trailer looked way back at that E3? Well, now you'll be able to if you hit up GameStop (http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?Product_ID=591) and preorder after January 5th.

Reserve Killzone 2 and receive exclusive access to the Killzone 2 Demo. You must have access to Playstation Network in order to redeem promotion code. Available for online and in-store customers, while supplies last.

Online Customers / In-Store Pickup: Codes granting access to the Killzone 2 Demo will be sent via email starting on February 3rd.

Store Customers: A rave card granting access to the Killzone 2 Demo will be available in stores while supplies last beginning the week of January 5. Check with your local store for more information.

Thanks GameCyte (http://www.gamecyte.com/gamestop-offering-killzone-2-demo-codes-starting-january-5-play-on-february-5)!

Its a really good idea to LIMIT the number of people that have access to a potentially game selling vehicle for a sequel to a poorly received game.

Sony marketing YOUR THE BEST!

Timed exclusivity to the demo. Give people who pre-order the game two weeks to play the demo first, then allow the rest of the community to do so at launch (or a month afterwards).

Awesome. So if I buy the game, I get a chance to see if I want to buy the game? Wait... huh?

Yeah not letting people play the demo who haven't pre-ordered is a really great way to amp up the pre-orders....NOT.In addition that's prolly the shittiest pre-order bonus evar.

Just preorder the game, get your code, see if you like the game and if not cancel the preorder and get your money back (that or put the preorder towards something else.) I've done this plenty of times at GameStop and they've never had a problem with it.

That's the plan I roll with as well.

Agreed, I've done the same thing with games. They may not like the hit to their daily preorder numbers, but they do it. Besides, at least I'm not being forced to buy an entirely different game to play the demo, like, oh say... Crackdown? ;)

Valve did exactly this with Left 4 Dead, I am going to assume this is a timed exclusive as well and that the demo will be available to everyone in a few weeks. I agree that it seems sort of bass-ackwards but it seems to be the new trend, and it also gives them some extra beta testing/load testing with a staggered release. There are plenty of reasons for it even if it seems kinda silly superficially.

All fine for North America I guess, but we don't have GameStop's in Europe. What are we supposed to do! Simple answer, get overlooked by the Sony marketing machine, AGAIN!

Let's be honest though, Crackdown was a great game. The Halo 3 beta was only a bonus really.

Hell, I'd pre-order Crackdown 2 to play a Crackdown 2 demo before I'd pre-order Killzone 2 to play a Killzone 2 demo. I mean the first Crackdown was so much better than the first Killzone. I didn't like the first Killzone much at all, it was a mediocre shooter at best, this is why the Killzone 2 praise and hype baffles me so much. I did however enjoy the PSP Killzone: Liberation but that wasn't even a FPS.

I shouldn't have to. Sony should make this available to anyone with a PSN id. If their game is as shit hot as they claim, then you want to get it in front of as many people as possible, yes?

This would make all the difference for some one such as myself who would really like to play a game on my PS3 but isn't willing to shell out 60 bucks for a game I'm not completely sold on.

Yes, it is an excellent idea to let general consumers play the demo of your long overly-hyped game before the retail product is available.

Look at how well it worked out for Haze.

Maybe they're doing this cause it's as rubbish as Killzone 1 and they don't want people to find out too soon? But i doubt that, it looks good and it'd be hard to believe they'd ignore the universal criticism over the first game and repeat all the problems. If they wanna start repairing the damage Killzone 1 did, and get people to buy their game, a solid and freely available demo is the best way to do that.

Also in agreement with EscapeArtist (although replace Europe with Australia). Thanks for nothing... again, Sony.
