GameSpot has word (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6202680.html?part=rss&tag=gs_news&subj=6202680) evidence that Star Wars Battlefront III was under development emerged when a former Free Radical designer posted, then subsequently pulled, character renders from the game on his web site.

Free Radical's closure raised doubts about the status of Star Wars Battlefront III, which many presumed to be the mystery LucasArts collaboration (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6156330.html) it unveiled in 2006. While game remains officially unannounced, this week saw evidence surface that the Second Sight studio was hard at work on Battlefront III when its time ran out.

The proof came in the form of several character renders posted on the personal site of 3D Artist Richard J. Smith (http://www.richardjohnsmith.co.uk/), whose resume lists him as still working at Free Radical. Though the shots have since been pulled, German fan site Swbf3.de (http://tinyurl.com/9x76bv) managed to snag 10 of them, which are all dated 2007 and bear a Star Wars Battlefront III logo.I hope the publicity surrounding this leads to Richard landing a good job.

Didn't Pandemic do the first 2? Why would this new one go to Free Radical?

Considering that Pandemic just updated that engine for the VERY similar LOTR: Conquest it would seem double-strange.

Also, remember how we all thought Pandemic was doing Batman. Means that mysterious "Project B" may well be a next-gen Battlefront.

That evidence is pretty strong though. The Han Solo model is excellent.

The Han Solo model is excellent.I thought the Han and Palpatine models looked exceptional. Those two are were what lead to my comment at the end of the article.

My guess would be that Pandemic is working on EA properties (because they are owned by EA) instead of other publishers.

That is a pretty sound guess, sir.

Makes sense to me! Good call riposte101, you get a gold star for today.

I have no idea why he would post this on his personal site. Like everyone else in the game business he must have signed all kinds of contracts that forbids him to do this (I know I have/had), especially working a big title like SWB3 (those contracts doesn't stop to exist, just because he changes job). Anyway, really great character models :)

(hope he doesn't get his ass sued)

Yes very true bulldozer, some contracts are at least 5 years within development or at least for me.

One I have/had is for 36 month (3 years), though here in Sweden it's forbidden in law to have those kinds of contracts. Sony/Ericsson is another company here in Sweden that have contracts like that thou it's forbidden here (thou I understand why they have contracts like that). I've also worked at advertising agencies and there they could only sign contracts like that for 3 month (after you quit). If they wanted you to "shout up" or not work for longer period they have/had to pay you some serious money.

Could be worse, could work for a bank.

Fuck up with financial details and you can expect your ass to be deported.

Maybe Pandemic are as sick of making Star Wars games as I am sick of playing/reviewing/hearing about them?

I hope they actually realize a good Star Trek game along with the movie this year. But I have massive fears of suckage.

I think your biggest concern there is that it hasn't been announced yet.

Any tie-in is, therefore, almost gauranteed to be a rush job.
