For your late night (or early morning) reading pleasure, I posted a few Xbox 360 Day 1 impressions (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7335) after playing around with the system for a day.

I'd be having a better day if MS had produced a reasonable number of their system.

It looks awesome. It easily looks like the best game launch lineup since the Dreamcast.

It's also impossible to get one around here.

OMG that ad made my day. Like an entire building full of folks acting out my childhood, lol!

Think of it like a new graphics card for your Xbox. Now you can put in all those old games, and crank the resolution and anti-aliasing.

Tried 'em both. My TV supports 480p and 1080i. I had it set at 1080i and put in Halo 1. For games that are meant to run in 4:3, the emulator puts black bars on the side. Great for purists, but I like using the whole screen even if things are stretched. That said, I really appreciated the extra sharpness. It looked good, but I wanted the larger picture. Fortunately when I set it to 480p widescreen it didn't add the bars, and still uses a nice level of anti-aliasing. So in that mode it's not really any crisper, but definitely looks smoother. KOTOR behaved pretty much the same way.

For Halo 2 (and Ninja Gaiden), it's just a straight boost to 1080i, running native widescreen. Absolutely gorgeous. The normal-map popping was pretty much gone; I did notice a very slight stutter as some cutscenes began, but nothing compared to the original Xbox. One downside though is a couple load times (esp. in KOTOR and Ninja Gaiden when pre-caching) seemed longer to me than on the original. Gameplay was great though, and the HD resolution definitely gives these titles some new legs for me.

UPS is bringing me my 360 today, I will try both Halo's out. I will have to, since Walmart wasn't kind enough to ship me any of the games I selected for my pre-order.. So I'll have the system, and some controllers but no 360 titles to check out. Talk about BS. Atleast there is some backwards compatibility and atleast I wasn't sitting out in the rain this morning only to be sent home after the store announced it only had 50 units (I saw that on the news this morning, a bunch of people at circuit city sent home).

Anyone see the irony in having to watch an advertisement to watch an advertisement?

UPDATE: the water ballon one was just a good. The jump rope ad seemed...kinda...fake.

Wow MS is so jealous of the Revolution controller they had to make a commercial about it.

I kid I kid! Great ad, probably my favorite of the three. Too bad those bastards won't have my system until December.

But seriously, I am waiting for an xbox till Oblivion comes out. Plus, who is going to wait out in the cold for one? Not me. Well, ffter reading EAs Day 1 review, I might have to force myself to wait for Oblivion as it makes me want the system very bad. Please release the game in the next few weeks, Bethesda. I need it bad. :)

Jeez. I was sitting at home last night rocking back and forth and keeping myself from going all over town and trying to get one since I just couldn't justify spending the money (plus more on games). I told myself I would wait till early next year... but after reading all the comments all over the internet, I want one now, mostly for the Live integration and Live Arcade! Thankfully they are all sold out or I would snap one up today right after work... I am weak... (I even called some places just to make sure it was sold out.:D)

EDIT:
I actually had a pre-order at my local EBGames (and I think I was one of the first ones, it was back in early May, so probably guaranteed) but I made myself cancel it last month so I could afford some PC Games (plus I had just bought an expensive ass camera.) Stupid!
