I was thinking of getting STALKER: Clear Sky via STEAM, because with the Holiday Sale going on, it's only $17.49 as opposed to $39.99.

What do I notice via the STEAM Store sidebar though, is:

Title: S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky
Genre: Action, RPG
Developer: GSC Game World
Publisher: GSC World Publishing
Release Date: Sep 15, 2008
Languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Russian
3rd-party DRM: TAGES™
5 machine activation limit

What's this? Does this mean that the STEAM install includes TAGES? What exactly is TAGES (I know it's DRM, but what exactly does it do?) An has anyone here bought STALKER: CS via STEAM and what happens with the DRM/ any problems?

Thanks,
-IA

Not so much TAGES I was worried about, I was asking about TAGES and STEAM together.

You install the game, the game works; you can't play the online multiplayer if you install 3rd party mods that mess with the actual game files. (Which would be all of them).

Considering that you don't play stalker for the multiplayer, not a big issue.

That's really all there is to tell.

tages i think uses physical defects in the disk when created that cant be replicated via conventional cd burners, im not sure how it works with digital copies, at any rate i dont think it installs any drm software on your pc that can do wonky things.
