Gamasutra is passing on the improbable rumor (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=21537) that Warren Spector's Junction Point Studios is working on a Steampunk themed Mickey Mouse title.
Could Warren Spector's Junction Point Studios be at work on a title about Disney's seminal Mickey Mouse?
Gamasutra has seen concept art and information that indicates a title codenamed "Epic Mickey" may be in development at the Austin-based, Disney-owned developer.
Concept art from early versions of the game that we viewed showed mockups of the potential game's environment, including pencil sketches of cities assembled from junk.
Another sketch included a surreal seashore invasion scene, in which machines wearing the faces of the Seven Dwarfs deposit old-fashioned renditions of Disney characters onto the beach with mechanical hands.
Interesting if true, but i think we've seen enough of mickey and crew in Kingdom Hearts.

Considering how long we have been into this generation without a new Kingdom Hearts title, I would say it is about time.

This could be cool. I remember some Micky Mouse and other Disney themed games actually being pretty good, back in the SNES/Genesis era. I seem to remember some SNES platformer where Mickey could collect different outfits, which allowed you to solve puzzles and use a variety of attacks depending on what you were wearing. Anyone know what I'm talking about, or am I just spouting crazy talk?

Anyone know what I'm talking about, or am I just spouting crazy talk? There was actually a trilogy of platformers made by Capcom based around this idea. I only know the title of one of them: Mickey Mouse and the Great Circus Mystery. Looking around should tell you the names of the rest of the games.

I'd rather see another Deus Ex, but if anyone can pull off a good Mickey Mouse game it would be Warren Spector.
Errr...the article said steam-boat, not steam punk.

Hope you're joking, because the article clearly says steampunk.
Though the kooky environmental concepts, with visible large cogs, gears and even a large fork that serves as a building's awning, are somewhat reminiscent of Disney's Toontown Online MMO, the images -- particularly the cloud-stained seaside painting -- have a distinctly shadowed, steampunk vibe.

This is Warren getting together with American McGee, however I doubt the Mickey angle would see the approval of Disney.
Possibly it's temp filler characters to be replaced later for a different game IP. Gotta sell it without giving away all the secrets...

Cross the part about Disney approval, but it may still be filler characters... Warren what are you doing?>???

There just aren't enough Normandy Beach scenarios featuring childhood icons these days. I see a great opportunity for some intense character interaction, like when you see your buddy Goofy crawling through the sand, desperate to attach his severed arm. Oh the possibilities!

The other one was the KOTR MMO.

Hehe, if anyone here has read "The looking glass wars" series, Possibly violent Disney remakes are awesome. Especially if they reimagine mickey the way Beddor reimagined the cheshire cat.
