Gamecyte (http://www.gamecyte.com/new-planescape-torment-mods-fix-bugs-add-and-finish-unfinished-official-content) has brought it to my attention that the best CRPG of all time has been given some unofficial updates in way of mods and bugfixes. At Spellhold Studios (http://www.shsforums.net/index.php?showtopic=38180), some dude named Qwinn has released three packs for Planescape: Torment: Torment Fixpack, Unfinished Business and Torment Tweaks.

The fixpack is a massive fixing of hundreds of bugs and typos in the game, ranging from minor issues to gigantic game-lessening ones, including “TNO’s hit point gain and THACO and the entire morale system, which makes fear spells work as they should and Dak’kon’s sword upgradable as it was meant to be.”

Unfinished business takes the nearly finished content that was released when the game was, finishes up a bunch of it, polishes it, and fixes the associated bugs. It restores dozens of banters, characters, quests, and items.

Lastly, Qwinn’s Tweaks adds several ease-of-use tweaks, and the much-anticipated banter accelerator, which will allow players to experience all 78 of the fully voiced banters that shipped with the game, rather than the 12 that—for some reason—were the only ones that showed up in the retail release.

I absolutely love that this is still being worked on and updated by the community almost 10 years after it's release. Planescape: Torment kicks more ass than Chuck Norris.

Dammit. I have to play PST again and very soon. This trio of mod/fixpacks makes it essential that I do. It's actually kinda disturbing just how much they actually fix/correct/unlock in the game.

Playing recent RPGs like Fallout 3 always make me reflect on how much more awesome the genre was a decade ago...

Is PST better or worst then Baldur's Gate II? I ask because BGII is the only pc rpg I played back than and only because I was a tester on it but I did find it to be very fun. I also played Fallout 1&2 but not all the way through part 1.

Torment is better than both Baldur's Gate games.

I know in my heart that CD Projekt Red has this game in the pipe for GoodOldGames.com. What I hope is that restorative fan projects like this aren't missed by their people.

I'm really hoping that Atari will let GOG get the DnD licensed games put on it. I have an older copy of baldurs gate, ice wind dale and PS:T sitting around, but they're a pain to get running adequately.

I replayed this game last year and was surprised at just how well it holds up. Definitely one of the greatest RPGs of all time. Incredibly original in its gameplay ideas. My favorite being that you need to occasionally die to move the story along. Brilliant!

this and a few other gems like system shock 2 need a rerelease, be it steam, gog, or even one of the consoles

Finally a thread without PLANETSCAPE TORMENT!

Timely news this is. I've been deep into PS:T the past few weeks. The game is still fantastic, and I've forgotten how great the actual role playing is. The number of choices you're given in dialogue is just amazing. Check it out people! Morte says so.

I love this game. They dont make them like this anymore. Didnt they write a book about this or something? Maybe it was in the same universe. Does anyone know?

Planescape was a D&D second edition universe. I know there were multiple source books on it, there was probably an actual novel or two as well.

I actually played in a 3.5 campaign that used my DM's own conversion of planescape. I found it quite enjoyable.

I never played this game, but I remember seeing it in shops when I was younger. I used to be a fan of these games, so I've always wanted to try it. I'm really hoping for a GOG release for this one.

I did my second run of the game about a year ago. I'll be due for another lap in about a year, so I hope I remember these additions.
Someone file a reminder for me, but I should probably download everything now in case it disappears.

How can I file a reminder for you? I will, but just let me know how ;)

Torment is better than both Baldur's Gate games put together.

Arguable and a matter of opinion. But I loved both games, with a slight win to BGII for me.

I always hated the infinity engine, but after seeing the state of RPGs over the last 8 years or so, I have grown really really fond of it. BGII is great, P:T is awesome, Fallout 1&2 the best.

I loved both BGII and PS:T. I'd also say BGII is higher on my list, but that was because it felt like more of an accomplishment when I finally beat the game. If I play BGII again I probably won't go the werewolf / caster route.

I hated BGI, but that's largely due to constant crashes moving between zones.

Is there a mod to make PS:T support higher resolutions, because to me that kills replaliablity, I'm just too used to seeing things at 1280x1024, not 640x480 if it was even that high

Exactly what I was looking for! Friday/Saturday I journey back to Torment.
