IGN (http://www.ign.com) reports that the game that you shouldn't buy an X360 for has been put on store shelves (http://xbox.ign.com/articles/668/668119p1.html) ahead of schedule.

'50 Cent: Bulletproof breaks new ground by offering the ultimate collaboration of music, game play and storytelling from the point of view of one of the world's hottest entertainers,' said Cindy Cook, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer, VU Games. 'Never before has an artist of 50 Cent's caliber fully committed all of their creative talent to deliver a video game that is a fully engaging entertainment experience.'
Why wait for the reviews!? Go buy it now!

Jesus Christ, can IGN advertise the game in that "article" any more overtly? That whole piece was cut and paste work from a goddamn press release. I know that game "journalists" aren't known for their objectivity, but that was just pitiful.

Why is everyone knocking this game. I can see through the marketing bs and using fiftys rep as a gangster rapper to sell games, but give the game a chance. I am sure it will suck, but a lot of people are knocking it because it stars a rapper, has rap in it, and just an overall "ghetto style" game.

And suck it does.

I've played it for a few hours. Few redeeming features - painting G-Unit as some gangsta A-Team doing justice just hurts. It has some credible ideas such as being able to grab a large object (such as a trolley) and push it around and provide cover for yourself and the special and lengthy array of takedown moves will have little white wannabe-Gs creaming themselves.

I'm a seasoned gamer and I'm not faint hearted - but some of these takedown moves are pretty damn brutal. Grabbing an opponent's gun, twisting it around, flipping him over so he's laid flat on the floor then placing your foot on his head and blasting his face off at close range is pretty strong stuff. Yeah, it's cool when Jet Li does it unarmed but this ain't the same. There's about 30 of these moves in the game and some are really quite grisly - and I'm no prude.

The sheer amount of bonus content gives the game away though - so many videos and extra tracks to fill the DVD.

Having said that, it's going to give the primary audience pretty much what they want - I just don't have much respect for that particular demographic.

Look around any forum (besides a rap forum) and you will see rap getting put through the grinder. I have been flamed on every single forum I have been registered to because I say I like rap. Look at the gamer demographics, white males. Rap is just not that popular outside of the sports gamers in this "video game world".

While I do like 50s music, shit is catchy wether you want to admit it or not, alot of people just hate anything mainstream. People that do like rap even knock newer "mainstream" rap from the people that came up the same way the underground guys did. Then you have the white people that point fingers at any other white person tha listens to rap and calls them wiggers (mind you this is on an internet forum). Look at all of the ignorant posts in this thread alone.

First of all, I'll admit that I'm nowhere near the demographic for this game (I'm 48). I'm just tired of moderately (and I'm being generous) talented "stars" being pushed as music\movie\video-game leads. I've never listened to anything Usher has done, but I've seen him act and he's nothing special. The same thing can be said for B. Spears. They are simply product. It's boring, tiring and depressing.

I honestly think 50 is only a so-so rapper. Get Rich or Die Tryin' definitely had its high spots, but it wasn't mind blowing, just really catchy. The Massacre, in my opinion, was incredibly weak.

Also, just because, in your experience, the majority of gamers don't like rap, that doesn't speak for the majority of the globe's population. It's one little niche group. I don't think by any means the majority of people 'hate' rap. Maybe it's not their favorite or their thing, but hate?

Screamo is emo...with screaming in it...its usually a little less whiney. But its good stuff.

EDIT: Ok just so you know, theres some bands that you might wanna avoid because they are just jumping on the screamo band wagon because its getting popular. Namely The Used, they played a show (headlining show mind you) with Alexisonfire, and underOATH. And both the opening bands had longer sets then The Used, with around 11 songs for Alexisonfire, and maybe 10 for underOATH, The Used played 8 songs....8! That's just pitiful!

Think Emo, but instead of whining about how upset yet fashionable they are, they're really angry about it.
I can't stand screamo, although some of the more hardcore-esque bands produce good pits.
I hate 50 Cent's music, because I think it is boring as dried shite. It's not that I have an irrational hatred of rap, I consider Straight Outta Compton one of the best records I own, but I can't stand any of this Nu-Rap stuff.
As for the game? If I wanted a gang violence game I'd play San Andreas.

50 sucks at an actor, and nowadays the "it" people get to do anything they want. Rappers are singing, acting, and getting into aftermarket car products. They suck balls at them all, but I have to give it to eminem. I actually liked him in 8 mile and he has sold out only to my arch nemesis......apple/mac (dam ipod commercial). You see of a ton of rappers trying to act and none of them can, but they still get roles because they have the cash and pull to do it.
That being said, I have been a rap fan since the 80s. I have seen it all except for the true old school revolution (sugar hill, first kool mo, etc). I like it all except for all of teh bitching and acting gangster in the sogns now. My cousin himself went to the NIN and QOTSA concert when they came by here and he was bitching how Trent gave a shitty performance. Like he seemed to be skipping over the hard parts of a song (like telling the audience how he hates doing the chords for a certain part) and gave no encore. He somewhat compared it to the episode of Simpsons where Spinal Tap performed (except there wasn't a hockey game the night before and they might as well have been on stage for 20 minutes).

My cousin said the exact same thing and he said it was probably because last time he was here he played in a small venue and it was packed, but when he came back to perform in stadium type venue it was only like 3/4 full. So that might've been reason why.

Also as much as i love NIN, they really need to go back to the angry days where they would mess up the whole set of things and destroy all their instruments with the insane mosh pits.

Well it was when Trent was in his prime and he had the "F you im pissed off" attitude. Since had a greater sense of unpredictability and better balance of heavy guitar and synthosizer. Hell, With Teeth was good, but it was far, far from great.

Also love NIN and Trent Reznor (since he's admited he's an avid Super Smash Bros. player and hardcore gamer too) but honestly that's the truth.

Ah theres nothing wrong with nu-metal. I loves me my Slipknot the only problem with nu-metal is that there are to many fucking watered down, copycat nu-metal bands out there. And the new, nu-metal is metalcore, there are so many fucking copycats its getting annoying.

For the most part, Nu Metal=Boy Band rock. I hate it beyond just it's musical merit. It's nearly all manufactured by RIAA execs. Not to many bands make it on their own anymore. Here's waiting for the RIAA crash, which I do think will happen. Some day their stance on digital music will combine with the arrival of a band that does it on their own terms and they'll get knocked on their ass.

So we'll get a decade of good music until they are back on top.

Well, I have to agree with that, since Slipknot hit it big, most metal bands (specifically nu-metal because its a fad) are manufactured. Metalcore bands are getting like that too. God the genre that said "fuck you and heres why" is losing it....sigh....

There's no 'versus' crap, quit whining. We're discussing our opinion on music forms and yours is no more valid than ours.

Most of the rap out today sucks. To paraphrase DJ Shadow: the problem with hip-hop in the year 2005 - it's the money!

That's like any form of music - most of it is subpar.

Look at the newly released song by Eminem, "When I'm Gone" for a shining example of how good rap can be.

Man we think video game fanboys are bad, look at what happens when you include music. It's like some people are out for blood if someone doesn't like their kind of music, or likes a kind of music they don't like.

If you want to get technical, his type of music is more 'musical' than even very good rap in the literal sense considering few rappers play instruments.

Someone should call the cops on all you thread hijackers. That said, I find 50 cent's music to be incredibly bland compared to what's out there in terms of rap. "In Da Club" was alright but nothing since has really hit it with me.

As far as the GAME goes, I heard from one of the producers that their budget was cut by 2 million to get 50 and Eminem to lend their voices but the publisher refused to cut any features to compensate. In other words, don't expect much.

I can see the developers just sighing and saying something like "well the graphics WERE going to be good".

I personally don't like rap....... I find it too repetitive and without lyrics and good melody... but that its just me.

THere are a lot of good Metal bands out there, it is a shame that so few people gives them credit for what they do. Give a try to Nevermore, Iced Earth, Symphony X... you won't be dissapointed.

I've heard of Iced Earth and Nevermore...are they anything like Killswitch Engage? If you can't tell this guy doesn't like any sort of screaming. Or real emotion outside of joy in his music.

EDIT: Iced Earth is OLD SCHOOL! Pretty good though. Also, I answered my own question, they aren't nething like Killswitch.

Which show did he go to? The one in Detroit was fscking awesome. He did a three song encore. I just wish QOTSA would have played longer. Oh yeah, QOTSA has their first live CD/DVD out tomorrow - kick ass!

To be honest, it's true that a lot of mainstream stars today lack talent and are just pushed because MTV tells people to listen to their music...but I am not going to be a hypocrite and say that I don't listen to any of them. If it's catchy, it's catchy, don't be ashamed to like it.

A lot of the stuff I like is rock, like The Mars Volta, Yes, Jimi Hendrix...you can see similarity here. But recently I've been starting to get into the underground hip-hop scene. If you want to give rap a try (and you should because it's not bad, it's just a different type of music, more about the flow of the beats than it is screamin' solo guitars) listen to MF Doom, Prefuse 73 (mostly beats), and Nas.

Be open, you'll be surprised at what you like.

Wow... that was a.... angry thread.

I am just going to jump in late and say that some rap can be good when it's not about the money.

IGN also got their review up (I think the game was not allowed to be reviewed until today, even though they skipped it out on friday, so as to beat the bad word) and the best part about the game is the rap...
Yeah, thats some sloppy gunplay.

I won't. But looks like enough people understood it - just not you. :p

Did I read correctly that you can play as Eminem and Dr. Dre in the game??

No, the both feature in the game but not as playable characters. Eminem plays 'McVicar' - a crooked cop who sells information for money. I was hoping Eminem would add some humour and [acting] talent to the goings on but his stuff is as poor as the rest of the game. Shame - after 8mile you'd think he could read a script properly.
