Nadeo sends along a video celebrating the 5th Anniversary of their multiplayer racing game, TrackMania (http://www.trackmania.com/en/).

TrackMania, one of the most popular online racing games, is celebrating its fifth "Birthday" with a unique new video retrospective. The new video showcases some of TrackMania's history and also a few aspects that continue to make it one of the most unique games in the video game landscape.

A brief but rich history is illustrated in this nearly four-minute-long trailer. In this video, we discover the genesis of Nadeo's fantastic racing title, its different iterations, the breaking of a world record, smiles, competition, stunts and a lot of creativity. "Play, Create and Share" was the motto of the game early on, and a promise we made to gamer, and this promise has been met -- and is now the foundation of a community composed of millions of players.

I have seldom seen a game in so desperate need of an Xbox 360 version.

Buy Trackmania United for $10 plug in your 360 gamepad. Problem solved. :p

I haven't played TM since it first came out back in 2003. I played the crap out of it for awhile, but the online play scaled in difficult FAST. Seems like every race was always dominated by some hardcore gamers that had memorized each track down to the pixel and could always seem to hit every bump just perfect for the next turn or rise.

Still, though--I had fun with the single player challenges and the map editor for awhile. Kind of reminded me playing around with the track editor in Excite Bike, setting up turbo cooler, super jump, turbo cooler, super jump over and over again just to see how long of a jump I could make. :)

But yeah--this game is screaming for a release on XBLA with support for user generated maps.

TrackMania Nations Forever (http://www.trackmania.com/en/index.php?lang=en&rub=nations) is the free version if anybody wants to give it a try. You can get it on Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/11020/) or from FileFront (http://files.filefront.com/TrackMania+Nations+Forever+Free+Full+Game/;10013754;/fileinfo.html).

They're making a Wii version I believe. The DS version is coming out in a few months.

I love TM:UF. It's a great way to waste an evening or a few. I actually use a 360 controller when I play it.
