Thanks to Gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com) for the following article (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=7250).
Popular digital video recorder firm TiVo has announced that it will start testing a feature to allow subscribers to watch TV shows previously recorded on Sony's PSP handheld, as well as on the video-enabled versions of Apple's iPod.
To the knob who stole my PSP - your time will come.

PSP? Sony? I'm going to spew some venom here:
Yawn.
Sony, my prodigal son, please come home to papa. Man, how I wish that the PSP's primary focus hadn't shifted to a movie player. Oh, how I used to love thee...more so than any other.

Wait, what?
Recorded on Sony's PSP? I don't recall that feature. :p

i'm glad there are finally desent games out for the PSP, it really don't like how sony is trying to turn it into a portable movie player. There are tons of really good homebrew apps out but I don't give sony credit for them because they've tried so hard to stop people from doing it.

Pop quiz, hot shots ... technophile friend of mine bought a PSP at launch (no dead pixels, thankfully), wants to get rid of it, offering it for about $150. I think UMDs are the dumbest thing to come out of Sony since betamax, and I don't like sports games. The only games I am remotely interested in are Lumines and GTA.
So ... is it worth it?

eh it is for me because I travel a lot but I'll admit I'm pretty pissed they havn't made many good games. I like GTA and xmen legends 2 but everything else I use is homebrew. With systems like teh video Ipod, archos video player, ect the PSP can't even try to compete with $18 movies. Buying the movies for $10 from SAMS/Wallmart makes them almost a desent deal but only for brand new releases. sad sony seems run by evil jackasses nowadays.

Paying a dime for a UMD is a waste of a good dime, IMO. If you need to watch movies that badly, buy a portable DVD player. The battery will at least last longer.
The video iPod, though boner-worthy, is not aviable option for me. If I had $400 lying around (I'd only consider the 60GB version), I'd probably buy the 360.
And again, the only reason I'd get the PSP is to play games that I can't get on another (home) console. Thus Liberty City Stories and Lumines, and to a lesser degree, Metal Gear Ac!d.

As an owner of all three devices mentioned here (I have 30GB version of the iPod with Video), unless the compression from TiVo to the iPod or PSP is very, very, good, there isn't really any program on TV that I would want on either device. It would take up too much space. The only video on my iPod with Video is the season 2 premiere of Lost and the iPod version of the Superman Returns trailer. Right now, I'll just be happy with software that is available on Window for my Mac so I can get video off my TiVo and onto my Apple so I can put it on DVD. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything about that yet. It almost makes me willing to use my Windows machine. Almost.

The average half-hour TV show comes in at under 200MB, and that's with more detail than you'd ever see on the video Ipod, and possibly the PSP (not sure about its screen res.) So you're talking about 200MB out of approximately 30,000. How are TV shows too big, again?
