Today, Capcom released the box art for their upcoming Survival co-op horror zombie thing, Resident Evil 5.

Capcom proudly presents the official box art for Resident Evil 5, coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 March 13, 2009.

The new box art imagery gives players a sneak peak into the nightmarish world of Resident Evil 5 as the art shows off the most thrilling new features in the game including the action-packed new 2-player co-op, the setting of Kijuju where light and darkness bring new horror and mysterious scribbling that represent a fear that no fan will forget….

This art will dominate North American store shelves when the game launches on Friday, March 13th, 2009.

At least this iteration will be judged against other shooters. For some reason 4 got a pass and was instead only compared to survival horror games. For me it was just an average shooter.

Compared to RE4's (GC) cover, this is pretty lackluster. RE4's cover did a pretty good job illustrating the content and tension of the game. This just feels like a typical bravado piece, rather than being in-tune with what the series has stood for.

I don't like the cover art... I think the RE4 cover was better. Then again, I don't like this co-op business either. What I want is a game like RE4 but with next-gen graphics and gameplay. But I'll buy this anyway.

You do realize that this is fairly standard stuff... and that because it was RE5 (one of the bigger profile titles of early 2009), it became news, right?
