Castlevania Chronicles Now Available for PLAYSTATION Network

Sony sends along word that classic Castlevania is now available on the Playstation Network.

The classic vampire-hunting franchise Castlevania makes its way onto PLAYSTATION Network today, as Castlevania Chronicles is now available for download for $5.99. Until now, this iteration of the 2D, whip-wielding action game had yet to be released in America. In Castlevania Chronicles, players enter a world where Count Dracula has been resurrected to begin a new reign of terror across the land. As Simon Belmont, descendant of legendary vampire hunters, players enter Dracula's estate armed with a killer whip to destroy the count and his minions to bring peace to Europe.

never understood what people see in the castlevania games. i'll give you great music, that it does have. but the gameplay is ordinary and old and simple.

castlevania 1, 3 and 4 where true classics. excellent tight gameplay, challenge atmopshere and audio.

symphony of the night had mood, fresh gameplay and style. aria of sorrow had an excellent story, and refined the symphony style. the rest are generally good to poor and fit your description of the series.

Um, someone might want to pass Sony on the memo that Castlevania Chronicles was released for the PSX....a "few" years ago here. :cool:

Yeah...I was going to mention that myself.
It had two modes; the classic arcade version and an updated version featuring character designs by Ayami Kojima of SotN fame.

I bought the hell out of that (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castlevania_Chronicles) years ago.
