1up has posted a quote (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3171912) from Media Molecule's Alex Evans, talking about upcoming downloadable content for LittleBigPlanet.
At the Spike TV Video Game Awards last weekend, we caught up with Media Molecule's Alex Evans to chat about the awards and what's next for LittleBigPlanet. Alex had plenty to say about the upcoming LBP level packs, such as the Metal Gear Solid one that should hit soon.
"So what I said to the team is that each of these packs that we do over the next year or so has to be shocking. These aren't little add-ons or side tweaks. These are like serious, game changing, massive -- how can we really mess with peoples' heads and change what they think about LBP. The first example of that is the Metal Gear Solid pack, which we just finished. I don't think that people are expecting what it's going to be and I'm so excited by that. The surprise element is just a big part of it. And that's just the beginning. We did that really soon after the game came out. I really hope people are constantly surprised and excited by what we do with it."The only thing I would find shocking is for the developers to find some way to turn this game into a big seller.

It would be nice if this sold better. i think its a big failure on many gamers out there to not give this game a chance. If you like platformers at all then its a lot of fun, especially with friends.
I for one cant get enough and its cool they are going to be doing cool stuff like the metal gear pack which so far looks super cool. I wish more developers would do stuff like that.

Chalk up another person who is glad to hear of incoming content for the game. Did the game turn out to be the system seller Sony was hoping for? No. Is it still some of the best all-family-included gaming I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying? Hell yes.

The constant stream of support for the title doesnt seem to be letting up anytime soon. I spend most of my time in the editor just messing around and they are adding extra materials and such too. The longevity of the title will make it a big seller, just you wait Avatar of Evil , I mean the Battles are in the sound track.

It's a niche title for a niche console.
Even if it were AAA+++ it would still sell like poorly.
Perhaps if they moved it to a new platform it may do better.

I think it sells poorly because the gameplay is so bland and uninteresting. The art direction is amazing and it looks great on my PS3 (even if it isn't 1080) but once you have played one or two levels you have played them all.
The gameplay lacks innovation and most (all) of the user created levels are unprofessional looking crap. It might be fun to create your own levels, but it isn't much fun to play the crap levels created by other users.
With such fantastic art, it wouldn't take much to make this into a good game, but as it came out the gameplay was pretty boring.

I disagree. I thoroughly enjoyed all the story levels. I just wish there were more of them. (Besides couldn't your argument be used in any platfomer. Say Mario Brothers.)
Most user levels are crap, but there are some really great ones. I still think "Tumbling Labyrinth" is my favorite. Your best bet is to hit a forum and look for recommendations or look at other people's hearted lists.

if parents loved their children (which they dont) they would have bought little big planet for them. I consider LBP an education tool and I dont think everyone understands what you can do with the game.
as far as bland gameplay goes.....
I dont know Evil Avatar . but I imagine he/she plays rpgs. hahaha .

Agreed, 100%. Add to this all of the draconian measures Sony has been implementing with the user-created content in the game, for me, LBP has been the biggest disappointment of the year, and I didn't even get too caught up in the hype.

Niche title I'll grant you.
Niche console? What is the niche that this console fits into? Pretty big niche I would say. Which would mean it isn't a niche. And you are an ignorant fanboy.
Also, jRPGs do horrendous on pretty much everything but the PS3, so while they may sell a few thousand more copies I doubt it would outweigh the development costs.

Meant family games. I have no idea where my brain went for a second.

Guess I am for defending LBP.
I'm not even going to try to defend against this comment.

Reality check time, Virtuoso. Valkyria Chronicles only sold 33K units in the US in November (source (http://www.edge-online.com/news/valkyria-largely-ignored-us-gamers)). That is less than literally every J-RPG released on 360.

Evil sez: "I think it sells poorly because the gameplay is so bland and uninteresting."
I think the mushy jumping and loose air control moved this out of a system seller status - but everything else about it is Awesome
Evil sez: "but once you have played one or two levels you have played them all."
I don't agree at all there.
Evil sez: "most (all) of the user created levels are unprofessional looking crap."
Yeah, but you only need 5% of it to be great for it to be totally worth the effort. And that is the case. And a lot of it is O.K. and short, so its not so bad to go through it -- sorta like surfing YouTube.
The only shortcoming of LBP is the jumping and control of the avatar - which is a pretty big deal, but the rest is so good, it still adds up to a must own title, if not a system seller.

A big problem that stops it being a system seller is quite simple, no one knows what it is.
The advert i've seen for it was crap, some guy showing off a level that was a pointless walk from a to b and watch a dogs head explode for no aparant reason. It looked boaring and the guy sounds like a loser.
Compare that to the million Wii adverts where everyone is jirating around like idiots and most importantly smiling.
Neither adverts really tell me anything about the game but at least I can see the Wii guys are having a good time!
