Valve has updated (http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/) their Steam Hardware Survey with the latest results from November 2008. This time around they gave the page a complete makeover, adding fancy new pie charts and graphs. Nvidia and Intel still dominate with the lion's share of installed GPUs and CPUs respectively. The number of systems running a DX10 GPU on Vista is now at 21.43%. Windows XP 32 bit remains the most popular OS with a user base of 68.67%.
Each month, Steam collects data about what kinds of computer hardware our customers are using. The survey is incredibly helpful for us as game developers in that it ensures that we're making good decisions about what kinds of technology investments to make. Making these survey results public also allows people to compare their own current hardware setup to that of the community as a whole.
