Next Generation (http://www.next-gen.biz) has posted an interview with Jim Veervaert (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1673&Itemid=2&limit=1&limitstart=0), Executive Producer at Rare.

"It's an incredible challenge," he says. "It's been crazy the past couple of weeks. It's been extraordinary. Getting two titles out at launch is something I have never done before. Rare is not typically a launch development studio. They usually say the game will come when it's ready. This was a big thing for them to get these two games out at launch." "I feel pretty good about the fact that Perfect Dark is absolutely the flagship game for the box," says Veervaert. "If gamers are interested in first person shooters, this will be very good for them."
An interesting interview. I hope the pressure exerted on them, both internally and by Microsoft, hasn't forced them to cut too many corners in the development of PD Zero and Kameo.

I like the fact that for PDZ, they're going for customability and replayability. For me the thing that made Halo 2 great was the sheer amount of freedom you had in making various multiplayer modes and changing anything you liked.

Future plans for at least some free extra content is also a plus.

Also online co-op? Had that been mentioned before?

the lack of a hype curtain around PD0 makes me thing that someone at MS does not agree that this is a flagship title. I'm not saying that I buy hype (or need it) all the time, but the fact that it's not there is intriguing. You would think that a highly anticipated title (that we have been waiting for for 5 years or more) on exciting new hardware from a big name developer that MS paid big bucks for and has not produced anythign would have its hype machine on full blast. I mean the goldeneye/perfect dark family tree is console royalty for christ sake.

We all saw how crappy PD0 looked on MTV when MS put the focus on it, but everything official has been mum since then, and pirated info/videos/screens have been lackluster to say the least.

Add to that the fact that Rare is not delivering on what was said 6 months ago on MTV (after how many years of development) and I think this game is not going to be very well recieved.

How long until reviews hit for PD0? Are they waiting until Thanksgiving in hopes that it will be covered up by the holiday?

I wonder if anyone else dislikes Rare as much as I do? I always thought GoldenEye was a terrible game, and Perfect Dark was worse. The only thing they are good for is making unremarkable platformers. Donkey Kong Country is about their strongest point, and that is a fairly ok game that is exceptional in no regards. Plus, they created those terribly DK models that I hate so fucking hard.

AFAIK, most of the people who worked on those games have since moved on to other companies, mainly Free Radical. There really is no telling how good PD0 is going to turn out.

They've had years and years of working on these games and it was a struggle to get these out on time? Rare has some serious time management issues.

The reason the reviews are late is that review copies weren't sent out till just recently.
