The title says it all. No real info, but apparently it's very rad.

Yes, we are working on a new game, duh. Of course! What do you think we're going to be doing? After we read and answer all our fan mail, we still have at least 45 minutes left each day that we have to kill somehow. So we decided to make a game. Can I tell you anything about it? No effing way. It's so secret, it hurts. But it's probably the raddest thing that I have ever seen. Seriously, it's so amazingly awesome that every time I look at it I get a little teary-eyed. I think I'm in love with it. I think I'm going to make out with it. I think I want to kill it a bear. I think I want to carve it's name into my chest with broken glass, I love it so much.

Schafer is off his fuckin' nut... While he is making wild analogies, I wonder if he is also going say he'll "make us his bitch" with this game.

Ok, that was a bit dated...

First heard of this in his 20 questions bit with Edge. Its Tim and I love him. I wondering on the format though, probably going to be a console game according to what he says on the Edge Thing (http://www.edge-online.co.uk/archives/2005/10/faq_tim_schafer_1.php) and Psychonauts was going to be xbox exclusive until Microsoft stopped their deal.

There's nothing like Tim Schafer humor. I'd love another psychonauts-type platformer, but Im too excited at the thought of what other cool things he has come up with since he started doublefine.

I hate to be a hype mongering fanboy, but I'm pre-ordering now.

Awesome, I remember hearing a while back that Psychonauts might be the last game from him, at least for a while.

He's a guy that makes games that having something a lot of games are missing these days - FUN!

Tim Schafer is one of the greatest devs EVER. He never made a crappy game. More power to him!

This is news? A game developer is making a game. That's it?

What's the title, what's the game's gimmick, what system will it be released on, when it is going to be released? These would all be valid questions to make this newsworthy.

I can't even go on. This article is so stupid I'm going to have a stroke.

Its TIM SCHAFER. Every game he has worked on has been awesome (MI, FT, GF and Psychonauts) and the fact he is making a new game is still news. The other stuff is announced later. Lots of people are still interested that he is working on something though.

Also, he HAS never for future reference Stormwatcher. Just saying.

Huh, guess you've never had the privilege of playing a Tim Schafer game. If that's the case, go pick up Psychonauts and get back to us. Then you'll see why Tim Schafer making a new game is so exciting. The man bleeds fun games.

I love reading interviews with him! you can almost taste the Monkey Island dialogue from his words. What a great guy. Can't wait to buy another of his games.

It's also legitimate news because his last phenomenal game didn't sell as well as it should have and there were some doubts if he would make another. So, news that they're working on something new is in fact newsworthy.

It's newsworthy, because of his track record.
If Darren Aronofsky, Peter Jackson, or god help me, even Joss Whedon were to make such an announcement regarding a new movie, most movie news sites would carry it.

No, I'm not mad enough to be saying Whedon is a good a movie maker as Aronofsky.

Fankly, I'm surprised. I thought I heard that he basically invested 100% of his personal savings in Psychonauts, and that he was really betting on its success. When Psychonauts didn't sell so well (or... at all? Did I buy the only copy?) I figured it might be bye-bye for Doublefine. I'm glad I was wrong in that. That's why this is news, because there was a question as to whether or not he WOULD be making another game.

Regardless: WOOOO!

There are four copies of that game in my household.

The European Psychonauts launch is on Friday. I already imported a US copy but I'm sure as hell hyping all my friends into buying it.
Seeing as there's still a market for quirky little games like this over here I'm hoping it'll sell really well. Let's face it, it didn't exactly shine sales-wise in the US.

I'm curious about how many copies of this game were actually sold. There are some games that are assumed to have sold pretty badly, but often those games aren't so unsuccesful. System Shock 2 being a big case.

And thanks, I did write it incorrectly.

One of my old psych professors played Psychonauts and loved it. She was apparently telling her class about not being able to beat the lung fish. I talked to her about it, and she said her daughter has a copy for her Xbox, and her husband has a copy for his PC. That made me pretty damn happy!

Hell yeah! This is great news. Maybe not as entertaining as the fanboy slap fights that have exploded around the 360 launch, but much more newsworthy. Tim Schafer is arguably the best comedy game writer since the Infocom days, and I'll buy every one of his games until either one of us is dead (even longer, if he has the power of L. Ron Hubbard).

If it's half as awesome as Psychonauts or any of his earlier stuff, we'll be in for a treat. I just hope that it doesn't face the crazy publishing hurdles Pyschonauts did.

Plus, Tim Shafer is just a genius at life. I was reading his developer journal thingies earlier this year that he had written while working on Grim Fandango... and he had the best idea I'd heard in quite a while: Flossing in the shower.

Think about it - What do you never have time for? Flossing. What do take any excuse to stay for longer in? A shower. Combine the two? Hygenics Ahoy!

Grim Fandango being a big case as well.

According to Schafer himself (on G4's Icons), people have always assumed Grim Fandango "didn't sell well", but he says the game met and passed all of its financial expectations.

I think Schafer is fully aware how well his games will sell. I'm sure the budgeting for his projects reflects the fact that the titles won't exactly sell like Madden.

I wouldn't be surprised if Psychonauts cost more to make than Madden, at least Madden '06 anyway. I think they'll recover their costs though, but I doubt DF or Majesco will make any money.

destoo, you stole my thunder, motherfucker.

Also, killer I cannot wait to see what Shafer comes up with next. Sadly, Psychonauts is one of the greatest game that you have never played. What it did to level design, game progression, and the infusion of adventure conventions were fantastic. Psychonauts is like a great book, I lend it and recommend it to just about everybody.
