Gears of War 2 Goes Triple Platinum

Edge Online is reporting (http://www.edge-online.com/news/confirmed-gears-2-passes-3m) that Epic's new Xbox 360 shooter, Gears of War 2, has sold over 3 Million copies in four weeks.

Epic Games VP Mark Rein said in an e-mail, "Microsoft [the game's publisher] confirmed to me this afternoon that Gears of War 2 sell-through surpassed 3 million units as of last week."

2006's original Gear of War took around ten weeks to hit the same mark. Gears 2 did it in four.

Even if the publisher got $40 per copy sold, that's $120,000,000 in a less than a month's time! Very nice for a new IP! Congrats to everyone that was involved in making this project a success.

Between Fable II (over 1 million sold first month worldwide) and GoW2, Microsoft Game Studios is cleaning up this Holiday Season. To think, at the beginning of the year many "professional game journalists (i.e. 1UP)" were saying MS didn't have anything left to follow up on 07's success. It ends up the only game that may outsell either of these titles is Call of Duty: WaW.
The NPD top 10 software list should be interesting this Thursday evening...

Love this game, Horde is so addicting I just can't stop. Single player was great (though to me not quite as awesome as the first) and online mp is good. But HORDE omg, it is the bomb diggity! Never gets old. I love that it has bots too.

I just wish you would rank up in Horde. But ya, Horde is worth the price of admission alone! Get a good team and it can burn through 4 hours in no time.
