Resident Evil 5 Demo Out Today (Japan)

Time to be envious of the Land of the Rising Sun again. Today, Major Nelson (http://majornelson.com/archive/2008/12/05/5-biohazard-5-demo-japan-only.aspx) has updated his blog to let everyone know that the latest Biohazard demo is now available for download in Japan only.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think you can still use an asian xbox live gamer tag and download japanese demo's. I know I did it for Blue Dragon and .. hmm soem other game.. but I know it used to work.

Frankly, I don't understand why this content isn't available worldwide right now. Maybe Capcom's afraid some people might play the demo and then not follow through on the full purchase?

Capcom, you make my two favorite game series (Resident Evil/Biohazard and Devil May Cry) but it needs to be said that this move is rank with cockery.

I didn't think Resident Evil ever had Japanese voiceovers, just subtitles.

Anyway, this is the first time I did this, but I created an account to download the demo. I'm jonesing for this game, and sadly the demo only made it worse. Frig, March is so far away!

The game is multi-region, on a Japanese X360 all the text is in Japanese and the title screen reads Biohazard 5. Although apparently Capcom has updated the demo and region-locked it after they saw quite a few people playing outside Japan (if you are on a US Live account it shows you are playing the Resident Evil 5 demo which isn't supposed to be out yet). The "other" way of playing/downloading the demo apparently still works. ;)

DMC4's demo came out in Japan first too, don't see what the big deal is, for all we know it'll be out next week in other regions. Besides, I'm pretty sure Capcom thinks the sales outside Japan are guaranteed so they're in no rush to get a demo out to us.

Check here for a tried, true, and somewhat sanctioned method for getting and playing the demo with an American account. (download the files and burn them to a disc).
