Charge up your proton pack! MCV is reporting from a UK Press Event (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/32552/Atari-Ghostbusters-gets-release-date) that Atari has put a release date on the upcoming Ghostbusters video game.

Atari has confirmed that its upcoming retro licence, which it snapped up from former rights holder Vivendi last month, will receive a multi-platform release in June 2009.

It will be released simultaneously on 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PS2 and PC.Who you gonna call?

Lol i thought for a minute with that picture that Ghostbusters was NOT going to come in 2009, but then I remembered that that is simply the logo of the Ghostbusters.

I guess that shows how long it has been since there was a Ghostbusters movie or game. It seems like such an obvious license to want to pick up and run with, Activision/Blizzard were fools for letting it go.

Hope this doesn't stink. It looks pretty neat this far along anyway, from the screenshots I've seen.

They're even more foolish given the fact that a third movie is in the works.
Ghostbusters made up a sizeable chunk of my childhood; hell, I still have the toy Proton Pack kicking around my folk's place. I'd like to think that watching those flicks oh so many times growing up helped mold me into the sarcastic asshole I am today. Thanks, Bill Murray. I owe ya one.
