Microsoft is running a new little program called the Marketplace Holiday Deal of the Week (http://majornelson.com/archive/2008/12/01/xbox-live-marketplace-holiday-deal-of-the-week.aspx). This program will run through December and provide Xbox360 users some hot deals from Xbox Live Marketplace. Starting tomorrow, people will be able to purchase the Halo 3 Legendary Pack (http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/offers/0CCF0006-0000-4000-8000-00004D5307E6) for 200 points off (400 instead of 600).

Here are some details around the program:
The special deal pricing is available for Gold Members only
Deal of week is a program for all Xbox LIVE regions.
New deals are announced on Monday, which will go on sale the following day for one week.

Like this upcoming deal, most of these "deals" will be on old and dried up crap that people aren't interested in or playing anymore. Halo 3 does not have the coat tails that Halo 2 had, as evidenced by how quickly it was surpassed by other games (CoD4, GoW2, others). Halo 2 sat atop the Live list for a year or so.

It's nice to see some deals, but how about some deals on more recent stuff?

I almost got Rez HD, but then I was a silver member. Sad panda.

You know, it's not because I'm poor. I just don't play games online so I don't pay for a service that allows me to. So what? I haven't bought enough stuff from MS that I deserve a deal?

I picked up Age of Booty on Xbox Live over the Thanksgiving break and love it. Damn good stuff. Having deals for only Gold subscribers is kinda messed up though.

No, you haven't. Buy a replacement 360...or two. Then, buy an overpriced larger HDD so you have the space to buy overpriced DLC.

Then, you'll still need to spend some more. Buy an extended warranty, since your disc drive is as likely to die as your motherboard/GPU/CPU.

Start saving! ;)

I havenīt downloaded the Legendary Pack yet so Iīm getting this as soon as I get home from work. My friends and I still play Halo 3 a lot when we get together.
