Here is a list (http://www.gamersreports.com/index.php?sid=4422) of the amounts of xbox360s that each Future Shop across Canada will be receiving.
Doesn't look like they are going to fare much better than Best Buy, so the Canadians will be standing out in the cold too if they want one on launch day.

That list isnt completely accurate... I work at one of those Futureshops and we have been told that we are getting even less then what is on the list... some of the stores will be sharing shipments.

Edmonton gets 436 and all of Newfoundland gets 34?
Something wrong there... Looks like I'm going on a trip cross-country (for a couple of days)

When you live in canada for a long time or are born there, the weather only slightly bothers you.
It's currently snowing like mad here. "Luckily" for me, I have not the time nor bankroll to purchase one of these beautiful machines.

Holy crap, my local one is getting the second highest allocation, with 150. Crazy!
Still not buying one, though, till I can get the FULL system for 299.99 Canaidan. Not a second before.
I like the helpful link to look up what store correlates to the list. I live in Halifax, so my store must correlate to... Halifax. Thanks!

Unless you're the pussies who grew up in Vancouver. A few millimeter of snow and 0C temperature and everyone are dressed in parkas and drive worse than a blind and deaf driver behind the wheel of a F1 car.

Hmm, I wonder if that could have something to do with this shop being the one closest to the BioWare office :) Having more than 200 game addicted people working in your vicinity might have some impact on game sales.

My area ( London ), is looking pretty good. 50 units on the north end, and 36 on the south. That makes sense, since bestbuy ( who bought futureshop ) is basically 2 blocks away from the south location in london. So between Future Shop and Bestbuy, I figure there should be atleast 136 units available. Not counting our 7 or so walmarts, plus 4 Eb;s. I shouldnt have an issue getting one considering im off work that day and our population is only about 350K. Plus we have 2 costco's the site everyone seems to forget to check for stuff like this.

Are the Xbox 360s at Future Shop for preorders only or is it first come first served?

What are you talking about, people drive like that in Vancouver regardless of rain, shine or snow. But I couldn't believe the schools and everything shut down after 5cm of snow last year. Especially funny since the roads were all perfectly clear.
I've pretty much given up on the hope that I'll be getting a 360 anytime soon, I'm dying for some PGR3 action though, I don't think I've ever in my life put in half as much time into any game as I did PGR2.

According to my friend who works at the Broadway shop (Vancouver) each FS needed to have a certain number of pre-orders before they were given an allocation of X-Boxes. I know that the Langely store has 15 pre-orders and is getting 50, and the Kingsway/Burnaby store has 50 pre-orders and is getting 84. I'm sure the rest of the stores are set up in the same manner.

Hmm, not sure if I should camp out for one or not. I do take some comfort that there should be a steady stream of systems coming out after launch rather then the drought that plagued the PS2 when it was first released. Finding a system after launch is like a treasure hunt :D

I am waiting until after E3 2006. There is still too much left to do with this generation and I want more information about the other two consoles before I decide which one to adopt early.
As for the weather in Canada, I live in the Greater Vancouver area. It is rarely above 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Farhenheit) in the peak of Summer and only gets close to freezing during mid Winter evenings. You can pretty much wear the same clothes all year round with only minor modifications. No one I know has even owned a what would be considered a winter coat, and shorts, while nice, are far from necessary in the Summer. So take that Canadian weather stereotypes. :p
Of course none of that applies in Ontario where the weather is batshit crazy. 40 degrees C (104 degrees F) with 100 percent humidity in the summer and 20 degrees C (4 degrees F) BELOW ZERO during the winter. Yes, the temperature there varies by about 60 degrees C (140 degrees F) over the course of a year. My aunt lives there and her family spends a fucking fortune trying to keep the house warm enough in the winter and cool enough in the summer.
And that concludes my threadjack.

Hey buddy, what you have to remember is that more people live in Edmonton than the entire province we live in. It really makes sense for them to get more. I bet that # combined with what Wal-Mart and other local stores will get in the St. John's, NL area you will not have any trouble getting a Xbox 360 launch day.

The reason edmonton is getting so much is because its a depressing cold praire that's dirty and boring to live in, they need the xbox's to curb their desire to commit suicide.
Yay Calgary!
