Its cold outside, and this weekend I decided that I'd start the winter beard a-growin'. I also decided that I really don't have enough time to play games. I played Gears of War 2 for roughly 2 hours... then didn't get to do anything else. I sort of wish the weekend was still here but I'm glad to be back at work as well.

thanks menage!

I managed to get my hands on Castlevania: Symphony of the night.
I'm already in love with the series!
I didn't manage to play a lot but next weekend will be dedicated to it. Alucard is amazing btw :D.

I finally finished Bioshock. What a touching ending -- a far cry from most of the "you saved/rule the universe!" endings in most games.

Left 4 Dead during the little bit of time I was able to play it.

Generally I was drunk.

Mirror's Edge - almost done
Finally, started FarCry2 on the PC and found myself really enjoying it...especially, since later that night I watched 24:redemption, which was like deja vu.
I found myself wandering around and opening up safe houses, but I am now ready to embark on the first official mission of the game.

Same for me. I seem to be taking my time with that game.

I also played a surprising amount of Castlevania (Live Arcade) and Lego Star Wars.

Everything went exactly as I figured it would, with a pleasant surprise. I beat Saints Row 2 and practiced on Left 4 Dead.

I installed Civ IV on my new laptop and found that it ran well, so I lost some time doing that, too. A very good weekend for me!

Resistance 2 and Valkyria Chronicles mostly. Played a bit of LBP too since the kids kept begging me to play it.

Also if any of you have a ps3 and haven't played the Valkyria Chronicles demo then go do that, right now. The game rocks and is so different than anything else out on the console right now.

Left 4 Dead and a smidge of the Zombie mode in CoD:WaW.

Left 4 Dead, with a good group of like-minded players, is going to be the big winner in my forseeable future. Played through the Death Toll campaign this weekend and we lost two people at the waterfront house (Zoey and Louis). It was cool in a sad way the swarm of zombies cut the guy playing Zoey off and none of us knew it until we were on the boat and turned around and saw him/her out there, down on the ground. The guy playing Louis and I (I was using Bill) went back out but another swarm were cramming the pier and we were trying to push/shoot/bash our way through them to Zoey. Slow going at best, and then a damn Tank showed and started beating on her, there was no way we could get to her so we started heading back...

Then the guy playing Louis is hollering for help... apparently he got cut off on our way back and was being mobbed big time. I'm yelling for the guy playing Francis to give me a hand but either he wasn't hearing me or was pretending he wasn't hearing me... either way, he wasn't leaving the boat. I tried bashing my way in to Louis but it didnt' take a genius to know I wasn't gonna make it so I turned around again and beat feet to the boat. It felt incredibly cinematic when the boat took off and glided past the camera, with the zombies going apeshit on Louis on the dock and Zoey on the porch in the background. Very damn cool in spite of, or maybe even because of, the loss of two survivors right there at the finish-line.

That feeling/experience/story goes right up there with my bombing run with Evil back in the old Air Warrior days for outright multiplayer coolness.

I couldn't stop playing FIFA 09. I don't know what it is but I absolutely love it, despite its many, many problems.

Also some drunken Rock Banding with friends which was fun. It's funny how the microphone is treated like it has leprosy until someone gets several beers into them.

I played some really crappy community games on Live in order to find a couple of gems. There are a couple there; YMMV on which ones they are.

I played so much Left 4 Dead it literally made my head hurt. But I couldn't stop. I'm finding to be fun, addictive, and reminiscent of how we used to play the original Doom back in the day - fast and full of laughter.

I did a lot of work in WoW, and virtually nothing else.

Oh I did do a little GH:WT solo mode, about 15 minutes worth.

Left 4 Dead - It's too good. Seriously. Can't pull away from the 4 play coop. The versus mode was all right, but difficult to get going and maintain.

Overall, weekend well spent :D

COD: World at War - Free For All mode.

Oh and I rented Spiderman: Web of Shadows. The crazy camera + webslinging started making me feel a little sick so I had to stop. I picked it because I was interested in seeing the cameo appearances of various marvel characters such as Wolvie...but the story sucked so that took any fun out of seeing them in the game...

I usually avoid PES because of the lack of license. I know that's shallow, but it's just not fun for me being Manchester Divided playing Manchester Village.

However, I am still terribly annoyed by the magnetic feeling that the players having in FIFA where a player will gradually run to the ball even though he has no hope of getting there; it won't let you change player either while it's going through this animation.

Which brings me to the stupid thing where they go through the animation and don't dynamically adjust to what's happening on the field (or to the ball near them).

How's PES in this regard to FIFA if you played both? Is it a little more fluid?

I bought Moonheart by Charles de Lint at the bookstore, so this weekend I started that.

Tried Legendary - returned it to BB after about 2-3 hours play. That's at least 2 hours of my life I want back!!!

Got a few hours in on Fallout - managed to kill most of the bar in Megaton in an accidental (mostly) gunfight. Haven't decided if I want to go back to an earlier save...

Back onto GOW, where I can shoot things without game or story issues.

Played Left 4 Dead with 3 friends and we completed the first movie and almost the second.

In the last "scene" in the second movie, where you have to survive in the boathouse, until the boat comes, we almost held out. One of us died really early on and the other 3 of us held out past the tank and the first couple of swarms. When the boat arrived one of my mates got taken down, outside the house where I was inside with my second buddy. He ran outside to help, while I took care of the ones in the house. Then he got taken down. I panicked and ran outside, jumped over the side of the railing and started running for it. I could see zombied coming from every direction.
Got taken down right in front of the boat.

Damn great game. Can't wait to play some more coop. Left 4 Dead is without a doubt, the best thing that happened to Coop.
