1up is reporting that the first paid Avatar clothing items (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3171455) are now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace, cleverly bundled with the Ninja Blade Premium Theme.

It begins.

Update: We've since learned that the 1Up story was inaccurate. There is no avatar clothing included in the Ninja Blade premium theme.

And it will never end! :D

I know people have told you this a million times, but if you don't want it don't buy it.

I know people have told you this a million times, but if you don't want it don't buy it.

But I don't want other people to be able to buy it, nor to even have the option to buy it! :D

You're replying to the wrong person. I'm all about choice; this doesn't bother me at all.

If the screenshot is accurate the article is wrong in several areas. There aren't any clothes to be seen there.

It looks like this article is referring to are the new NXE themes which cost 250 points and have the extra environments that your friends avatars show up on in the friends channel... coincidentally enough the number of friend environments for most of the themes I've looked at is 5.

And this ninja one wasn't first. A bunch of NXE themes were released on the 19th. As early as the 7th it turned out that the free Gears 2 "Last Day" theme was secretly a NXE theme, just that no one could tell unless they had NXE. To the best of my knowledge that was the first NXE theme to be released.

EDIT: You can see the same sort of thing in the Gears of War 2 theme posted on the GoW site here: http://gearsofwar.xbox.com/Templates/cmblog.aspx

EDIT2: Bigger picture of the friend enviornments specifically: http://gearsofwar.xbox.com/uploadedImages/Community/CM_Blog/Friends_List.jpg

Dont buy it, its not rocket science. Businesses are always going to look to make money any way they can. All we can do, and its a lot, is not buy.

I have a simple rule for this:

If any of my friends buy even a single shred of this crap, I will laugh at them, hysterically.

"You think this is a research site?"

You're right. Expecting a little journalistic accuracy from EvAv is a ridiculous idea, isn't it? :)

So, Evil Avatar, are you planning on changing your post that is currently a blatant lie?

I won't buy it, you won't buy it, but no need to go all preachy on people. They'll spend their money how they fucking please.

Seriously, there is very little research done here. The news you see on the front page consists of links to other peoples work, with a short comment by the poster.

Who posts those news links? We do; the readers.

It's a gaming site. There is very little nuclear research or massive journalism going on. Unless, of course, I missed something. Does the site have a journalism budget?

I think it's fine the way it is. Someone sees something newsie, and they post it for discussion. Then people talk about it. Seems both simple and elegant.

"I think it's fine the way it is."

So you have zero problem with the owner of the site blatantly fucking lying to you?

"I think it's fine the way it is."

So you have zero problem with the owner of the site blatantly fucking lying to you?Ummm huh?

The ownership is not doing anything of the sort. They are linking a story to another site that has its facts wrong. Get over it.

If every story with wrong information was removed we would have very little to talk about on the internet. Plus, we would never hear anything from the Sony PR department for sure. That may or may not be a bad thing.

Stop needing the whole world to cater to your needs. You can have your say here. All you have to do is post "This info is wrong", and then we discuss that. Instead, you demand that the discussion itself be removed, which is simply censorship.

I think it's daft to demand to be spoon fed, but hey, "the ownership" lets you have your way too. Simply don't click on a thread which contains content you don't agree with, or doesn't meet your standards.

You believe everything you read on the internet?

Why do you even post on the site if you're going to bash it?

you're a moron, they quoted and linked to the source of the information so you can evaluate and verify it yourself.

on that note, I eagerly await the next time 1up goes on one of their "blogs are ruining gaming with their shitty lack of research and rumor mongering" rants.

I've seen way more inaccuracies from 1up than you see on most blogs.

Actually, at this point you're the problem. That's unfortunate, but you are a darklord, right?

The old Johan would have told you to get fucked and take a flying leap off a tall cliff with sharp rocks at the bottom. The new me says, "that's unfortunate."

I agree, this site cannot and should not be held responsible for inaccuracies in the stories it links to -- and people should check the facts for themselves before believing anything they read. Having said that, it wouldn't hurt to update the headline or add an update to the end of the original story now that it has proven to be incorrect. I mean, just because Evil Avatar isn't responsible doesn't mean we should knowlingly mislead.

I tried that with WOW, it didn't work so well since everyone else in the world bought it anyway.

Sure, but who the hell are you to make a comment like that about being preachy? Are you not kinda doing the same thing to me?

Ill decide what preachy is around here and for me. But have a nice night:)
