I spotted the following press release while browsing Logitech's website (http://www.logitech.com).
Logitech´s New Harmony Remote Delivers Advanced Control for Microsoft´s Xbox 360 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/news/US/EN,contentid=11265,crid=34)
“Our newest Harmony remote simply controls everything — from the Xbox 360 to any other components in a home-entertainment system,” said Bryan McLeod, vice president of Logitech´s remote control products. “The Harmony remote solves the living-room clutter problem of excessive remotes and makes it easy for any family member to set up the entertainment system for playing games, listening to music, or watching movies or television — all by pressing a single button.”
It's a little costly at $130, but it sure does look purdy!

Looks a lot like their excellent 8xx-series with a couple extra buttons for the 360 (and I assume Windows MCE w/extenders). Great if you're a HT geek with a bunch of remotes who doesn't already have a Logitech/Harmony, but I don't see it flying off the shelves.
For $130 it better have a nude pic of Cliffy B on it.

Cool. It's nice it's a true universal remote. There's a version of the Harmony remote that's 250 bucks...so 130 is a steal! ;)

250 bucks? Holy cow, that's hardcore! Maybe thecrazyd will get a tattoo of that?
The harmony remote is really good. I highly recommend it.
It has support for almost any media device made.
If you are in doubt you can run a "test-drive" of their web-configuration tool and see for yourself. I was really impressed that it had support for my chinese no-name projector screen remote.
The standard remote support Xbox360 as well and you can define the buttons for any action you want. Its really nice to press one button to:
- select correct channel and configuration on the surround
- turn-on the projector
- turn of the lights
- activate the window blinds
- position the projector screen accurate

Looks quite good to me. As a HT owner without a working univeral remote, this one should be just what the doctor ordered. Currently I do the 3 remote dance so anything would be an improvement. Added 360 functionality is icing on the cake.

Over the years, I've acquired MANY logitech products, mostly unknowing. They are the mecca of peripherals in my mind. Kudos on the remote!

For $130 I think I can deal with my remote clutter of 2 remotes. The code set functions that exist on most remotes seem to make a product like this unnecessary. Using my Sony TV remote, for example, I was able to program it to work with my Satellite Reciever and my Xbox DVD player (it uses the RCA code). The only other remote I need is for my Xbox Spherex Surround System, which annoyingly I could never find a programming code for.

So, can you sword fight in-game with that remote? :D
That's a cool remote, but I'm not even ready to cough up the $400+ bucks to buy the 360, so an expensive remote seems kind of silly. I would rather just buy a few games and use my $20 universal remote instead.

I have the Harmony 880 and it rocks. The web tool isn't the perfect solution, but it works well enough. It's nice in that it's a task oriented style universal remote - "Play Xbox, Watch DVD, etc". Having it switch the TV, both amps, DVRs, etc all with one button press is a godsend. I went from 8 remotes to 1.

Make sure you setup a custom screensaver with black screens, or with a series of solid color screens if you get a harmony with color lcd.
The lcd in the remotes is highly susceptible to persistance.

We'll see about that, bitch.

I was wondering when that was going to come up. Thanks Worldcrafter for keeping my faith in the EvAv community. Nintendo's been brought up now, so I expect Player1 to pop in any minute and start the mile-long lectures. ;)

Mile-long and very well-worded lectures, though!
I would note here that I feel often terribly humbled when reading Player1's posts, but as he/she likely couldn't care less...

True, you don't see the profanities and the like spewing from Player 1's mouth as I've seen other fanboys do. I've seen some creative words from them.

Yes, he does word his posts eloquently for the most part, and I have pointed out such in the past. I just think he's something of a hypocrite. No need to go there though.
Long live Logitech and their expensive remotes!!
