Two reviews have hit the intertubes for the 28 Days Later styled co-op title, and its looking really good. IGN (http://pc.ign.com/articles/930/930763p1.html) hits first with a 9.0 and Gamespy (http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/turtle-rock-project/930737p1.html) hits second with a 4.5/5.
From IGN (http://pc.ign.com/articles/930/930763p1.html):
There's absolutely no doubt that Left 4 Dead is one of the most social and exciting multiplayer games that we've ever played. It's almost pitch perfect in how it captures the tension and the action of a Hollywood zombie movie. This is an incredible and highly replayable multiplayer experience that's definitely worth checking out, especially if you're looking to prepare yourself for the inevitable zombie apocalypse. Just make sure you bring your friends.
From Gamespy (http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/turtle-rock-project/930737p1.html):
One need only look at Left 4 Dead for proof that the gaming landscape is fundamentally changing. This is a game that was obviously envisioned from the very beginning as a co-op experience, even modeling its single-player campaign to mirror that approach. The inventive and highly entertaining competitive multiplayer mode just adds to the experience, and we're looking forward to seeing what Valve's got planned for the game's future. Out of all the titles that have shaped the Year of Living Cooperatively, this may be the best experience of them all.

After playing the demo for some time with friends I feel it's simply too fast paced. My fears of running zombies were valid. They move too fast to really enjoy the action, most of the time I feel like I'm in a shooting gallery and the levels are too narrow focused on getting from point A to point B. The game is just too arcady for me.

It's either Fallout 3 or Left 4 Dead, can't decide which one I'm getting.
I loved the demo, and I'll probably be getting it for 360 and PC to play with everyone.

If you have friends, Left 4 Dead will last you a lot longer. Fallout 3 simply does not have the replayability of the previous games, or even Oblivion.

Pretty much.
Im not buying it unless I hear that the rest of the maps open up and you arent stuck on a god damn track from A to B to C...
The first map is a good example for something I hate about this game. You can hop down to street level if you know how, and go on, its really a glitch though I suppose. But in a zombie survival game wouldnt you want open options especially with this bullshit "director" approach? The spawns are annoying as well. I would much rather it be presented like more zombies were alerted and traveled to our group, instead they just spawn from anywhere dark.

PC or 360? I can see that being the case on the 360, especially at the higher levels. I don't know what I'd do without a mouse in this game.

Yeah, a guy on 1up Yours said they played Advanced on PC no problem but someone else was doing Normal on 360 and getting their asses kicked. A lot of this game is headshots, which I would imagine would be a problem on console.
I think it's a great idea and really fun, but there just doesn't seem to be enough content for a 60-fucking-dollar game. (or even 50-fucking-dollar on PC). It needs a lot more modes and maps.

Actually 45 dollars on PC... I need some more info to get this game. I can't really spend the money, but it just seem so good

I finally understood L4D the other day; if you play it like other shooters, you're probably going to die. The objective is to get to the safe room, not to kill zombies. I was playing it, hunting down and clearing out all the rooms, when what I should of been doing is running for the safe room.
I mean, there's going to be a point where you have to stand and fight, but if you have the option to run, take it!
In that way, it's different. I dunno. I would of liked to see a better campaign. I like the movie presentation, but something of a plot would of been nice, especially considering it's a full-priced stand alone title.
How the multiplayer works on the PC still confuses me, though. What if you want good pings, but don't really have "friends" to play with? There's no real way of doing that. It works on XBox live, but PC?

Love Valve, didnt' care for the demo, but maybe I need to give it more time. I played with people I didn't know though which made it more chaotic than it probably should've been (I know... it's zombies... it's chaos, etc.) I have a feeling it would be much better with people I know. And a much lowered price of course.

I really hated the demo. Looks and feels like a 2001 game. Review scores must be due to the new co-op fad that's all the rage.

The demo didn't really impress me. It's not a bad game per se, but I'm really worried the full game won't have much variety outside of shooting zombies and moving to the safe room. That's simply not enough for me, even with co-op, to put down $50 or $60 depending on platform. Gears 2 offers much more game for your buck, honestly, especially with Horde mode.

Omg this game rocks been playing it for hours. I have never played anything remotely close to this type of game before. When you are waiting to be saved via helicopter or boat whatever you get insanely rushed by everything and the teamwork to stay alive is awesome.
Other shooters everyone knows that teamwork is good but still want more kills etc. This game you don't care you just want to survive and you absolutely need their help to do so. That last health pack? No problem giving it away. I am playing on steam and no lag whatsoever.
Not to mention the cool stuff like throwing a pipe bomb gets all the zombies riled up chasing the flashing light it gives off or having to turn off your flashlights when you hear a witch crying.
Great game and I'm sure there will be a huge mod community for this or dlc for you console guys.
Man I love valve they never let me down.

All of you mouth breathers that don't think this is the best high intensity multiplayer experience concieved of since the first LAN parties debuted...just go back to playing Gears of War 2 and stroke jobbing Clifftard. That is all.
