Edge Online has word (http://www.edge-online.com/news/epic-scoops-tech-award) that Epic Games has won the Top Industry Driven Technology Company of the Year Award, the Cary, from the North Carolina Technology Association. Epic president Dr. Michael Capps said in a statement, “We’re honored to be recognized by the NCTA as an industry leader in technology. The other nominees are trailblazers in their respective fields -- for a game company like Epic to be singled out as the award winner is very flattering.” You can find (http://www.nctechnology.org/index.php?option=com_jcalpro&Itemid=102&extmode=view&extid=19) the full list of 2008 finalist, in the form of a downloadable file, at the NCTA's web site.

The Unreal 3 engine deserves it. It's been powering a ton of this generation and it just works so incredibly well. It's even gotten a lot of use over in japan, which is surprising.

I would have thought that Valve has had more of an impact this year.

Doh. Silly me -- this is an award in/for North Carolina. Maybe I should RTFA before I post.

(What happened to edit, anyway?)

Like there was even another choice for North Carolina. What was it up against, the cotton gin?

Haha. The OP misquoted the article and made it sound like the award is called the Cary, rather than the company being from Cary. That would be insult on top of injury.
