Fahrenheit is consuming, both physically and mentally. Not many adventure games still manage to have this effect, out of the few still bearing the cross of the Adventure genre. Most continue the old point'n'click trend established by Maniac Mansion. Not Fahrenheit. Fahrenheit wants more, wants something else, and does something else. It consumes you and gets you personally involved in the life of the characters that you're playing. Yes, characters, because there's more of them for you to control, on either side of the law. But it all comes down to one purpose: finding out what happened in that cold night on the 27'th of January, in that God forsaken diner in the middle of a New York city paralyzed by snow. New York paralyzed by snow? That's odd...

Yes, and feels exactly as unsatisfying as you think. The entire last quarter of the game flies completely off the rails. Well worth it for the first 3/4 though!

Agreed. The romance thing at the end made completely no sense to me. Still a pretty interesting game, I enjoyed it all the way through even if I spent most of the time at the end in a state of sheer WTFness.

My theory on the ending... (spoilers)...

My theory is that the when protagonist "died" at the amusement park, he actully died or went into a coma, and everything else after that point, his coming back to life, the internet creatures, his romance, his superpowers, where just a halucination. Sorta like the films Jacob's Ladder or Brazil. Either that or the developers had to cut a lot of story from the last quarter.

iirc the nudity is removed from the US version...and I too think they had to cut a lot because the last quarter was very different from the rest of the game...

I went through the whole thing in three days. It was fun until it turned into The Matrix and Dark City redux. As underwhelming as the last third was, I still feel the game is a necessary one for the evolution of the video game, just like Shadow of the Colossus. In a world of Maddens and Splinter Cells, it's good to see that new ideas can poke through every now and then. Everyone should play Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy for the experience of it, and I'm hopeful that Quantic Dream can work out the kinks in any future games they make.

Oh, how I wish you were right.

No, there's just too much necrophilia and nonsense in this game for my taste, unfortunately.

Neccessary? Simon Says retarded console style gameplay is NEEDED to make gmaing evolve? Oh man you crack me up!

Oh and shitty review, who wants to read bullshit from some unknown site that doesn't give you any diffinitive final number or even leter score at the end.

It's far from a perfect game, but the concept is enough to warrant a play-through. While I certainly don't want all future games to move closer to movies, seeing the synthesis of video games and film like this has really sparked my imagination, especially in the wake of more cinematic cutscenes in games and Spielberg's recent deal with Electronic Arts.

And again, I'll bring up Shadow of the Colossus. The game had a crap camera and iffy controls, but it was the artistry involved that made the game for me. The same can be said for Fahrenheit. It could have been better, but its flaws are forgivable.

The reason that the last 1/3 of the game was shit was beause it was originally ment to be a serial, but they ditched that, and crammed the last bit in for an ending. Personally, I think that a serial would have been much better, and I would drop 15 or 20 on it every few months.

Hmmm... I guess I could have figured that out from the context. Oops. Thanks, though.

It's true the game could have probably used a little less Simon-Style gameplay but as a whole this game really showed adventure games arent dead yet.

Uhmm.. I was under the impression that as a whole gamers are sick and tired of meaningless percentages and letter grades.
