According to this Yahoo! News article (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051110/tv_nm/terminator_dc;_ylt=Ao3DpRsCA1JTHQgS4gn3zVVxFb8C;_y lu=X3oDMTA5aHJvMDdwBHNlYwN5bmNhdA--), Fox is developing a Terminator television series, The Sara Connor Chronicles.
Fox is developing a pilot for "The Sarah Connor Chronicles," a drama based that will follow the character of John Connor's mother, portrayed by Linda Hamilton in the first two "Terminator" films.
The pilot script will be written by Josh Friedman, whose writing credits include "War of the Worlds" and next year's "The Black Dahlia."

Turning a really bad B-sci-fi thriller into a drama based on some schizophrenic biatch. Sounds terrible.

I'm going to wait till I see an episode before passing judgment (day... heh). The possibility of a good show is there... (but I agree they could've chose a better character/time period to focus on)

We need to go back in time and prevent the third movie from being made....along with this crappy series. Who is coming with me?

I didn't think the third movie was that bad... I was amazed at how long that one vehicle chase scene went on where it seemed they were destroying everything imaginable!

Well, I agree with Joru that this could work... at least the script-writer seems solid. However, I still don't trust the Mr. Kassar after where he took the third film. Sounds like it will be bad, but I'll probably give it a look when it comes out.

Yea, damn fags, always expressing 'opinions' before taking it in the rear.
A terminator show would be the bomb if it was set in the future, which is where the 3rd Terminator should have taken place. But if it's about Sarah Conor, color me bored.

As if you could have a Terminator series without future flashbacks. Use your brain, please. Thanks.

I don't get it... What is this series going to be about? Her packing John around for a few years, scraping by and stealing money from ATM's while telling him he's a savior? Then another few seasons where she is stuck in a sanitarium?
...This just sounds stupid.

The third movie would have been good if it was the second film and they used the t1000 instead of that woman. I hate child actors, especially teenaged actors who are supposed to be 8 year olds, or whatever age Edward Furlong was suppose to be playing in T:2.
They should have done that and then made part 3 all apocalyptic.
T3 was an entertaining stupid action flick, my problem was when leaving the cinema, rather than feeling entertained, I could only think "Would that have been the movie that Cameron would have made?"
That said, I'm not looking forward to this, because surely it will be a "robot of the week" affair, with a different T-Random-Number android attacking her every week.

What, I agree with you on faggs and you bite the hands that feeds you? Maybe you aren't reading what I'm saying. I want a series that takes place entirely in the future, those were the best parts of T2 for me. Seeing giant machines and the whole man vs machine stuff. Both T2 and The Matrix allude to it, but no one has delivered it. Seriously, epic war of man vs machine would amazing.

YES! I WANT THAT!
Please don't talk about T3. I'm trying to eat my dinner here, ok.

In other words, you would have liked T3 is if was essentially T2...but with an older John Connor?
Much like the situation with the upcoming Star Wars T.V. series, I'm going to withhold judgement until I can actually sit down and watch a few episodes.

I will not withhold my judgement. It will be total sell out crap. Just like the prequels, and the burgerking, and the M&Ms, and the Star Wars Christmas. Fuck that shit.

Turning a really bad B-sci-fi thriller ...(snip).
Umm what "really bad B-sci thriller" are you referring to? The original movie was arguably a B-movie, nominally a sci-fi film, and an excellent thriller. Anyone who could call the orginal "bad" needs to see some really bad movies to gain some perspective. The sequel and the third movie could hardly be called "B" movies as they had budgets.

They had budgets, yes. But the third movie had a script, and actors like a B movie. Wooo.

...What exactly are they selling out? Star Wars was a movie made to make money, always has been. It was never original, never had very good story, and always made more out of it's effects than anything else. I like Star Wars, but I don't get where Star Wars fanboys think that they were some grand trilogy that will forever outshine all other sci-fi.

Because I live in a dream world where director's have visions, writers have talent, and actors express themselves. And I'm not a star wars fanboy, I just enjoyed the first three and thought the prequels were absolute crap.

Look man, don't fucking knock the Star Wars Christmas... I was 10, I think, stuck in fucking Turkey (my Dad was Air Force), and all us kids had been languishing for nearly a YEAR with no Star Wars in the base theater yet... do you understand how horribly that must have sucked? We knew of it. We'd seen pictures, and got the storybook records and even a couple toys had made it over there, but STILL no movie... and then somehow we got the Christmas special... it was a gift from God, I tell ya. I remember the night it was on and we were so damn excited to actually SEE anything Star Wars that the Special was pure spun gold.
Now, looking back at it as an adult, it's entirely cringe-worthy, but I still have to love it as one of the big highlights of my childhood.
Of course, the bitter irony of it all was that we got to go back to the states after Star Wars had left the theaters here and about a week before it was in the base theater in Turkey, so I never saw it on the big Screen until the re-release. :(

Terminator 2 was pretty good. And T2 and T3 could not qualify as b-movies. They were both quite expensive to make.
A show based on those movies, or the period of time between the first and second movie, however, doesn't sound particularly thrilling.

I'd have entirely dismissed this, if it weren't for Josh Friedman's involvement. For that alone I'll probably be checking this out (not that I don't anticipate what ever he writes being violently futzed with by others along the way)

Terminator was what it was. Basically big gun battles against a machine. No one remembered the scenes between Connor and Reece - even the sex scene was meh for its time. Everyone remembers the whole shootout in the police station.
Same goes with Terminator 2. Everyone remembers the motorcycle battle with Arnold shooting double-barreled at Robert Patrick. Of course, explosions were bigger, effects were better, but essentially the same - interesting battles between an updated version of the old Golem myths.
What's so different about Terminator 3? The trilogy were not made one right after another. Each were in a different time period of action filmmaking; Terminator 2 had significant CG improvements over 1, and 3 over 2. In their times, they were the big fights of their day. To suggest that 3 had less depth than the others seems pretty silly to me. As if they had depth to begin with.
In terms of the TV show, though. Something tells me they're going to have to rewrite Terminator history (well, that's sort of what they do). I just don't see any possibilities of an actual Terminator-Connor show, even if it's just meant to be a "drama" as it says (estimated meaning: not an action show, just a non-violent struggle over predestination). Only way it'll work is to do the future war story - with John starting off in the prison camps.
The Terminator series is one of the greatest science fiction series ever. T1 and T2, of course.
James Cameron is my favorite.

Lemme see, I'll bet there will be a new and sext Terminator to fight every week, except for one who quickly becomes a fan favourite and switches sides. They will be sexy and sassy, with an 'in your face' attitude. Sarah's multi-cultural posse of hard-as nails poses will have lenty of run-ins with these bad bastards from the future with plenty of gun-totting fun.
Also making several appearances will be some slick Skynet boss/exec, evil as you like, who will be foiled despite the many convoluted and incredibly eveil things he does, he might also be the right hand of the his computer Skynet masters or some such shit.
The only problem I have with this is that C2 is producing it with Warner Brothers. As you know, they basically stole the rights to the series form its original creator, James Cameron. They then went on to produce T3, which was honestly one of the worst disgraces to a franchise I've ever witnessed.
The only good side is that Fox is involved, which allows James Cameron and Lightstorm entertainment to get in on this.
We'll just have to see how this one turns out. It could really go either way.

Wholeheartedly agreed. We've pretty much done it all already in the current time... it's high-time we got more than the occasional flashback glimpse of the dystopic, apocolyptic future war. I'd watch a series about THAT. But we know nothing terminator-ish happened to Sarah and Connor between T2 and T3, so how lame is that going to be? Are they going to spice it up by showing skynet in the future looking through a crystal ball and watching them, cackling maniacally about the plans it's hatching but will never launch in the run of the TV series? Gay.

That'd be great, because everyone knows James "Dark Angel" Cameron hasn't made a shitty tv series in his career yet!

That's how much was spent on the cost of the election plus the campaign money from the 'for' and 'against' camps. The actual election costs were $50mil, so I hear.
