Taking a page out of Fable 2's book, the new website (http://us.tombraiderunderworld.com/?aff=portalUS) for Tomb Raider Underworld now offers in-game items that you can unlock before you get your platforming on. All you've got to do is play some mini-games like balancing Lara on a beam, or avoiding some monsters. Check it out if you're interested in getting some stuff.

More developers should be doing this as a tie-in to marketing. This is like the unlockable weapons in Battlefield: Bad Company that had you sign up for an account on their website and looking around said website for unlock codes for weapons.

Thats a pretty neat idea. As long as they don't charge money for new skins and sound-effects, or horse armor, I'm cool with it.
I played the demo, and while I liked it, It pissed me off really bad too. The camera was absolutely terrible. The animations were really good though, but it was kind of buggy. I predict a 7.6 on IGN.

I unlocked the first 7 items - all screenshots. Whoopee. :P
Yeah, the camera in the demo was problematic. I can't recall having any camera problems in either Anniversary or Legend.

Thats because there wasnt any.
The demo was made twice as hard (or even harder) by the stupid camera. I hated it too. This is exactly the sort of thing that put people off the original Tomb Raiders.

Yeah, the camera problems in the Underworld demo was a problem. In the start, where you have crawled up the stones and hanging from the second ledge, the camera places itself so you can't really see where you have to jump.
I really hope they fix it for the release of the full game. But what the hell, the demo was really entertaining and on par with both Legend and Anniversary. I will definitely be buying it.

I hope this is not a new trend because it is a TOTAL PAIN IN THE ASS!

Ok modeps, you need better fact checking. NO in game items, just lame screenshots/wallpapers to download. Waste of time.

Looks like I wasn't the only one wrong then, here's a story around the same time as mine from BigDownload (http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/11/10/new-tomb-raider-underworld-web-site-offers-in-game-items/).
With Tomb Raider: Underworld due for release next week, the folks at publisher Eidos want you to have a leg-up on the rest of the world while playing the latest action-adventure game. They have launched what they are calling the Tomb Raider Experience web site which will offer up exclusive unlockable in-game items.
The web site does this by putting you through a series of browser based games such as hitting the right key at the right time to avoid a tentacle from a Kraken or balance main character Lara Croft on a balance beam. The more times you are successful, the more points you get and the more chances for unlockable items you can receive. Tomb Raider Underworld itself is due for release on Nov. 18.
Sorry guys.
