1Up is reporting (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3171165) that the new issue of EGM will have the first details on Warner Bros. upcoming holy blasphemy, Watchmen: The End Is Nigh, a gaming prequel to the Watchmen comic book and movie.
Not only is Watchmen: The End Is Nigh a prequel (fleshing out many of the brief flashbacks hinted at in the graphic novel), it's episodic, and it's downloadable. EGM has the full reveal, including over 20 screenshots and interviews with 300 and Watchmen director Zack Snyder, original Watchmen illustrator Dave Gibbons, and veteran comics author/End Is Nigh scripter, (and Alan Moore's original mentor on the Watchmen series) Len Wein.

I fear a lot of people will be burning in hell over this one. I pray for their souls.

is this really necessary?
explore the backstory of Nite Owl, in which you will punch some henchmen, and then go into another room to punch some more henchmen! then there's a boss battle where you have to dodge projectiles and then perform a QTE finishing move!
AND THEN!!!
explore the backstory of Rorschach, in which you will punch some henchmen, and then go into another room to punch some more henchmen! then there's some dynamic crime solving gameplay! press a button for Rorschach-vision, where clue objects are highlighted in bright orange, and you have to press a button to collect the clue, where it will be entered in your journal accessed by the pause menu!!! IT'S DYNAMIC!!! NEXT GEN GAMEPLAY TAKIN YOU TO NEW HEIGHTS YEAAAAH!!! then there's a boss battle where you have to dodge projectiles and then a QTE finishing move!
TIME TO GET EXCITED

I get that "episdodic" is the new industry buzz word, but, seriously, does anybody LIKE "episodic" games? Has there been one game realeased in which this is actually a benefit as opposed to a "I guess it doesn't RUIN it..." detrement?

Well... I mean this could be cool, if done right, but what are the chances of that?
Episodic = I wait longer before deciding to plunk down my money. Something to think about, Warner.

This will bring a lot of people who've never even heard of the Watchmen original graphic novel into the fold.
I see nothing wrong with that.
Oh, and the people involved in the creation of this product are pretty much the only people you'd want to do this kind of thing.
No one's gonna force anyone to buy the content.

The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'WTF!?!' And I'll look down, and whisper 'lol nubs.'

I will pound my balls flat with my stack of Watchmen issues, 1st print entire run, before I'll ever pay for 'episodic, downloadable' installments of a Watchmen prequel. I don't care if Len Wein and Dave Gibbons are involved in it. It's fucking bollocks.
The story doesn't NEED a prequel. It stands on its own as a fine piece of graphic literature and I'm not being an art snob in saying that. Anybody that is smart enough to understand the subtext of the Watchmen can put the pieces together from what is provided in the series as it stands, which is the way it was always intended to be consumed by the audience.
Watchmen reverberates twenty plus years later precisely because of what it is and how is was given to us. It doesn't need further elaboration. The fact that a prequel is even being considered means that people are missing the fucking point entirely. I get that the movie studio doesn't want to invest in something that doesn't have the potential to draw more revenue through expansion of the source concept through various avenues. But understanding that will never equate to advocating it.
Maybe while they're at it, they could give prequels to some other great works of art. Let me give the corporate schills of the world some more ideas, since they clearly know nothing about the integrity of art and are only interested in raping it for profit. I am not ignorant of the fact that Watchmen is a comic that I, at one time, PAID FOR with money out of my pocket for the privilege of reading it, but this is some soulless fucking bullshit going on here.
Beethoven: Symphony Zero
Mona Lisa: Source Behind The Smile
The Vitruvian Teenager
Citizen Kane: The Birth Of Rosebud
War And Peace: The Cro-Magnon Years

There, whores. That should get you started.
