I recently got a chance to talk to Christopher Di Cesare (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/press/bios/chrisdicesare.htm), Director of Global First-Party Games Marketing about the upcoming Zero Hour launch event for the XBox 360 in the Mojave desert.

For the event Microsoft wanted to do something different, something unique and something that would appeal to the hardcore crowd of the 3 to 4 thousand expected guests. While the event is being held in a Top Secret Location, Chris assured me it is less than an hour ride from LA. A few celebrities may even pop in for the show.

The event is being held in a aircraft hanger and is all inclusive with live entertainment and refreshments available. The doors open on November 20th at 12:01 AM. All guests will have an oppurtunity to purchase the XBox 360 as well as games and accessories from an onsite BestBuy (http://www.bestbuy.com).

There will be developers on hand to talk to guests as well as the entire launch lineup to play. Future games should be on display as well including the highly anticipated Gears of War from Epic.

Tickets will be available tomorrow to win on participating websites in limited numbers. You'd think tickets to an exclusive event like this would find there way onto EBay, but I was assured ID will be required, so they aren't transferable. Also it must be noted that you must cover all travel and lodging expenses. The event does run 24/7; so if you don't want to sleep, you don't have to. More information can be found on the Zero Hour Website (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/news/zerohour.htm).

So...you have to win a contest to get a ticket? Didn't see any mention of price or availability on the zero hour website. If you can purchase tickets to this I'm sure the price will be so high as to bring into question the purchasers sanity, or wealth :-)

It said you win them. No worry about jacked up prices cuz they aren't for sale, yo.

So it's a chance to "win" a ticket to a party that I have to pay to get to, and pay for lodging. Wow! That's some great winnings! And I expect to see tickets on Ebay. They may not be legitimate, but they WILL be there.

I'm throwing a party up here in Maine this weekend. Lodging and accomodations will need to be provided by you. You are on your own for food and booze as well. Also, my location in Maine is top secret, so you're going to need to hire a private investigator to find me. After that, you'll need to solve Twelve Riddles of K's Legacy to unlock the secret door leading to my lair. After you've done all that, the party will begin. Unfortunately, it will also be late Sunday evening by then, and you'll probably only be able to get one "hi" and a Dixie cup of Kool-Aide in before you have to leave (I have to get up for work on Monday), but it should be fucking awesome!!

Everyone here's invited.

Can I bring a barrel of Natty Ice?

I haven't drank Natural Light/Ice since college. It was my drink of choice junior year, the cheapest decent tasting stuff you could get (I wouldn't touch Best Light, though it was only a notch or two below Natty). I can't even sip that stuff nowadays. But out of a keg...sure, I'll drink about anything out of a keg. I have dibs on the first kegstand.

And that first riddle might be a trick question....

Yeah, we've just upgraded from the Nat to High Life barrels. I still have trouble with American beer after the summer (except Killian's), but having a kegerator with some brew on demand makes it hard to complain. When I go out I've grown really attached to Boddington's lately, something about that intricate pour, and diving into the head to start, mmm, tasty.

Haha, and I thought the answer to the riddle was yes no matter which way you looked at it. ;) :D Fit'll be pissed if he hears you've been faking all this time!

Ahh, the High Life. I actually don't mind the taste of HIgh Life light...as a cheap beer, anyway. These days I can't drink anything less than 9.99 a 12 pack. I don't drink nearly as much as I did a couple years ago in school, but I have a new taste for REAL beer and to go cheap is like torture on my tastebuds. Now I drink for flavor, while then I drank to get drunk.

We had a keg of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale this past summer. It wasn't too bad, but I'd get something different next time, for sure.

What else have you been favoring lately? I'm curious to try new things. I fucking hate Blue Moon, and pretty much anything wheat. I've been on Boddington's, Harp, some Leiney's Red when the roomies have it, and we have a great German restaurant here in Madison that serves a nice variety of imports. It's a bit pricey for the college wallet, though during the week they have specials, half-price 2 liter boots! Nothing like finishing a killer exam and the proceeding to saturate your stomach with some fine German brew.

Lately? Well, in the winter I usually drink a lot of stouts and porters. Ales and lagers for the summer. Right now I've been enjoying Guinness Extra Stout, but it's very expensive and I've only seen it in 6 packs. Also, before it started getting cold, I was drinking Killians Irish Red, and I still have a full 12 pack and half of another in the fridge. (though it doesn't taste all that great out of a bottle, for some reason. On tap, it's excellent, or if I have it in bottle form I'll empty it into a pint glass) I haven't drank much beer lately, been trying to shed the summer pounds (I work in reverse...I put on weight in the summer, lose it in the winter--most people are the other way around).

I usually just drink local microbrews because they taste better than national brands brewed in huge vats and it's nice to support local places. Still, when I go out, I drink anything other than Bud products...they give me awful headaches the next morning.

I haven't found a Bud beer I've liked, so I don't know if they cause head trauma for me, but that sucks. I was the one that recommended Killian's to ya before :) and I wholeheartedly agree about it being much better on tap. I think I might swing by my friendly neighborhood Riley's (3 story liquor store) after I finish my paper tonight and get myself a re-ward. Maybe I'll spring for the Guiness Extra Stout. I'm a fan of the regular variety, and I've heard other people sing it's praises, too. How different is it?

Haha, I didn't realize it was you who talked me into Killians.

The Extra Stout has no carbonation release mechanism. It's just stout in a bottle. I think it is more flavorful, more like a traditional stout. I like it more, but it's obviously more expensive, being a special brew. It doesnt have the milky pastuerized taste of a normal Guinness.
