Atari has announced (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/051108/nytu012a.html) that Shiny's new Matrix-themed disaster, The Matrix: Path of Neo, is now shipping.

Atari, Inc. and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced the highly-anticipated video game THE MATRIX: PATH OF NEO is now available in stores nationwide for the PlayStation 2 Computer Entertainment System, for the Xbox video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and for Windows. The follow-up to the multi-million-unit selling Enter the Matrix, THE MATRIX: PATH OF NEO marks the second collaboration between Atari and its Shiny Entertainment development studio; the Wachowski brothers, creators of The Matrix trilogy; Joel Silver, producer of the trilogy; and Warner Bros. I don't now, I saw a commercial for it on TV last night and the graphics were just horrible. If I was in SAW II and Jigsaw wanted me to cut out my eyes, all they would have had to do was force me to play this game.

Not sure what's up here, but I rented this one on sunday, it's clearly already been shipped to some places. It's certainly not good, I should have learned my lesson from Enter the Matrix, but unfortunately not. They lost me pretty early on, first action sequence I played you get a gun and to fire the gun you have to hold R2 and press R1 to fire. Umm, that's about the dumbest thing ever, for me I have to shift my hands to fire the gun, why on earth would you require the player to simultaneously press both triggers? Beyond that, the game never really captured me, I like the basic concept of the game, but the execution is weak. The graphics aren't great, but who cares, the gameplay sucks.

It didn't mention such an option, but regardless, it should use one of the accessible action buttons when I'm in shooting mode, that type of context sensitive system is not exactally difficult or new. The basic firing of a gun should not be that complex.

this came into my store afew days ago, i tried it out and was really less than impressed.

Wierd GFX errors, horrid controls, very bland voice acting.

sure it played better than the first, but i was expecting alot more. Average at the very best.

I liked Enter the Matrix (in fact, I'm playing it right now). It was buggy as heck, but there was something fun underneith it all. I'll pick Path of Neo up when it hits < $20.

I read a pretty big article on Path of Neo a month or so ago in Gamepro and while I am not holding my breath, the concepts they want to pull off in it seem pretty interesting. I'm definately NOT going to buy this one though. Good ol' Getgames can ship it to me so I can ship it right back if it sucks as bad as everyone says.

Ok guys, the ONLY reason i picked this one up was because one of my friends was the lead composer.

U MUST STAY AWAY from the PC version....

Its utter shit. Controls are shit. Engine is shit. Clipping and odd artifacts everywhere...

Some of the action is fun and cool. But besides the audio, this game has nothing going for it. The graphics are shit on top of shit and it runs like shit.

Shiny has learned nothing from the first game...
