According to IGN (http://www.ign.com), Nintendo is rewarding Nintendo Club Platinum members with a neat freebie (http://cube.ign.com/articles/665/665354p1.html):

This year's Platinum prize, announced today, is a television remote control that just happens to look identical to the Revolution controller. The controller will have the exact shape and size of the Revolution controller, but will operate a television rather than Revolution games.
You can view it for youself by checking the Nintendo of Japan Members Club website (http://club.nintendo.jp/rank_p/index.html).

I don't know why but suddenly I want one...

If they released that in the US for like $15 I bet they'd make a mint.

I know why you want it (and I suspect you do, too) - it's cool as hell! Not many buttons on it, though.

If nothing else, it adds to the argument that some Nintendo haters have voiced - that the Revolution controller is nothing more than a fancy remote control.

Uh, no, it LOOKS like nothing more than a fancy remote control. That's the point. It's actually a videogame controller. Insofar as function, no videogame controllers are anything more than fancy remote controls. Hell, what a stupid argument to make against the Revolution.

Edit: Not bagging on you, Fit, just the overall badness of that "complaint".

Edit Edit: You know I love ya, baby.

No worries, my point was that the Nintendo haters will feed off this, not me.

It looks like a remote...and now it is a remote! Hurrah! Embrace the naysayers.

Wow, it's been awhile since you've posted. Has there not been enough Nintendo news to insult or have you been busy? :p

Actually, my game boy micro is up there right now. It just replaced my copy of Halo 2.

You missed the Nintendo Wifi launch post yesterday! And you could always get the Nintendo wifi usb acess point thing, I'm sure that'll fit where the sun don't shine...

Well, hey, that's great. Because one thing you can't accuse gamers or consumers of doing is judging a book by it's cover, right?

(That's sarcasm by the way)

What next? "No, Nintendo is not a maker of kiddie products" followed by a marketing promotion with Pampers?

I ain't no Nintendo hater. I just don't say thankyou when I'm served bullshit.

Which came first, the Revolution controller or the remote control?

I just don't say thankyou when I'm served bullshit.

I have no idea what you could possibly consider bullshit about this miniscule promotion.

Well, apart from the whole attitude of Nintendo being so smart about it LOOKING like a remote but not BEING a remote to then go ahead by PROMOTING is with a remote?

Oh no. I totally respect that. They're that good that they're trying to double-bluff everyone's perceptions?

Or, what I think is more likely, their japanese marketing department is stoned off their tits and playing Katamari too much.

So... don't get a remote? I really don't know what you're so mad about with this. It's just a cute little promo thing.
