View Full Version : Sega returns as a Japanese arcade powerhouse with... a witch dressup game
It seems Sega has stuck gold in the much-coveted kindergaten and primary school age girls market with their cardreading arcade (http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/national/20051019TDY03005.htm) game 'Love and Berry'.
The game requires players to collect cards in order to compete in dressing up two witches, named Love and Berry, and with the help of an arcade game, dance to get more points that aid in dressing power.
I guess it's nice to see Sega more solvent... but the part of me that loved Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shenmue, and the original 4 Phantasy Stars is in pain.
This is good news because I always play hentai dress up games.

This seems like Mushi King, but for girls.
Mushi King is goddamn huge here at the moment. Card collecting, giant insects, Rock/Paper/Scissors style gameplay, all combined into one ugly, ugly looking game with Peter Pan's sex offender cousin running about screaming like someone shoved a rabbit filled with asbestos up his ass.
I fucking hate Mushi King.

Yeah, it's not like the old Sega ever made stuff (http://www.vidgame.net/SEGA/pico.htm) like (http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=847) this (http://photojpn.org/news/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=1&page=1).
That "Waku Waku Ultraman Racing" looks awesome.

I think Sega is on to something here, I have a 4 year old daughter and I really want some way to get her into games without that Barbie and Bratz crap, Quake 4 and Fear are a little to hardcore for her but a non-retarded card game with a video game tie-in is a cool idea besides it gives Sega brand recognition with a new audience. Just my $0.02

Well when I was in Japan in May these arcade collectable card games were all the rage! It's the ultimate revenue stream. You get a collectable card game, then people have to pay AGAIN to play the card game! Brilliant!! :)
They had a huge variety of games ranging from a one person RPG dungeon crawl game with a touch screen to activate objects and collect items. They also had a soccer game where you collected players placed em on the field then moved the cards to control them. The most popular one was a Romance of the 3 Kingdoms type of strategy game, you placed cards which represented armies and then moved these cards on the board to fight. You would play either the CPU or an online opponent somewhere. They even had a bulleten board for trading cards. Ahhh the old days of Magic! :P I guess the cards have some RFID thing going, since the game automatically knows the card and can track its stats as well.
I guess they tried to think of something to bring people back to the arcades cuz they hadn't succeeded in the home market. I think it's a pretty innovative idea and one that you can't bring to any console so by default you MUST go to the arcade to play it. I'm just glad that I'm over my own Magic crack habit :P

Yay for Sega! I don't care if I don't want the game, I just like to see an old company get a little bit of a revival started.
