View Full Version : Ziff Davis (1UP, CGW) acquire FileFront

They're all at it today. FileFront (www.filefront.com) has been bought out by print publishers Ziff Davis Media (http://www.ziffdavis.com/). The move follows on from their acquisition of GameTab (http://www.paidcontent.org/pc/arch/2005_09_22.shtml#051506) earlier this year.

They've not done a bad job with GameTab, and 1UP is certainly a respectable network. FileFront has always had short to nonexistant waiting times for me and is very good for user-uploaded content - let's hope ZD can capitalise and expand on that.

I mostly dig ZiffDavis. I really like 1Up's design. I feel like if I had more time I'd probably waste a lot of it mucking around on there.

Are you serious? 1up is an overbloated carcass. Almost as un-usable as the new Gamespot.

Ya... 1up is pretty bad. I try to use it to join their contests, half the time the pages won't load or crash my browser. Very few things crash my browser these days <.<

To each his own. *shrug* I've always dug their design. Like I said, never have time to do very much on there, but I enjoy the place when I am. And it does a good job of fostering community and creating some interesting content both editorial-based and community-based.

I was the one who said it. :) He was just pointing out that I was being silly.

I'm all for some of these sites getting purchased if it keeps them online and doing what they do now, it is only a bad thing when people get bought out and the parent sites just close them down (or totally change the site and format).

Lets hope this is a good thing.

There's the good ol' EvAv optimism! Total agreeance there. Someone brought up Gamteab earlier. That's a perfect example.
