Tucked away inside Guitar Hero World Tour is a trailer (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/puzzle/guitarherometallica/video.html?sid=6200082)... a trailer for the second-upcoming-band-based-release from Activision titled Guitar Hero: Metallica. It was revealed through corporate channels previously, but now they want everyone to know that yes, its happening. Gamespot has the story (http://www.gamespot.com/news/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=26650521&part=rss&tag=gs_news&subj=6200116):

Last week, a trailer surfaced on YouTube purporting to be for Guitar Hero: Metallica. Reported as an unlockable Easter egg in Guitar Hero World Tour, the 27-second spot trailer offered only a tiny taste of what the game might hold, with a brief snippet of the speed-metal quartet's 1986 hit "Master of Puppets." After telling viewers to "Unleash your metal god," the trailer flashes the logo for the game, due out sometime next ear.

Now, with the expiration of the press embargo on Guitar Hero: World Tour, GameSpot can confirm the trailer is genuine, and is hidden in both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions of the game. (Click picture to play.) Guitar Hero: Metallica, which was first revealed via an Activision earnings report in June, will be the second band-based game in the Guitar Hero series. The first, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, was released this past June for the Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3. Activision has not revealed any platforms for Guitar Hero: Metallica, and declined to comment further on the trailer.

I wonder if the songs from this will sound better than the retail album songs.

Aren't they also doing that Guitar Hero AC/DC? Is that just Black Ice or classic AD/DC tunes.

I'm down for $60 if it is packed with classic AC/DC tunes. I don't care much about playing Black Ice in Guitar Hero.

Close. Rock Band is putting out the AC/DC pack. Guitar Hero has only done Aerosmith thus far.

Can we confirm that the Metallica game comes with a root kit that checks for non-licensed non-drm Metallica mp3s on your networked devices?

It's essentially an installation disc for a pile of AC/DC songs. It's a lot different than designing an entire game around one band.

I absolutely detest Guitar Hero now, much more of a RB fan.

That being said, I used to really be into metallica 15 years ago. If the track list has a good amount from Master, Lightning and Justice I just might pick it up. I couldn't care less for anything after the Black album.

So is this going to be a full band game or just guitar?

Also how exactly do you watch this in World Tour?

Nope, AC/DC Rock Band is a full playable package built from the Rock Band 1 code base. You can however, import your songs into RB1&2 with a one time use code.

I haven't seen anything saying that you'll be playing as Angus Young or following the career of the band or selling it with an AC/DC branded guitar or the like. It's essentially a DLC bonus pack that you can play on its own.

Maybe I'm just splitting hairs, but I don't think you can honestly compare the AC/DC thing with the band specific versions of Guitar Hero.

If it does then they will lose 1/2 of their sales (& I will be one of them)

You sort of just switched what you were talking about. First you said it was essentially just an installation disc... which it isn't, but now I understand more what your 'essentially' meant. No, AC/DC is not getting the Aerosmith character modeling treatment other than just some logos.

Instant buy for me if it has even a single track from Master of Puppets!

Get off it already. That crap may have been funny at the peak of the Napster craze, but now you just come off as stupid and bitter.
