View Full Version : PS3 GH:WT Drums Don't Work With Rock Band

Remember a while ago when everyone was super happy about being able to use the drums for either of the big music games in the other? As of right now at least one of those directions doesn't work. Joystiq (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/27/guitar-hero-world-tour-drums-not-recognized-by-ps3-rock-band-2) is out in front of this story, saying that allegedly, the Guitar Hero World Tour drums just wont work in Rock Band.

Despite promises to the contrary, the PlayStation 3 Guitar Hero: World Tour drum set doesn't seem to be working with Rock Band 1 or 2. Many users on the RB forums have noticed that the game is recognizing the wireless set as a microphone, and unfortunately, the mic isn't being recognized as a beat box receptor.

A Harmonix developer has chimed in to say, "We are definitely looking into this. We'll keep you posted on updates as soon as more info is available." Sony had previously said there would be universal instrument-rhythm game compatibility. The Xbox 360 drum sets seem to work with each respective game. We're working to independently confirm compatibility as we fill in the blanks to our Instrument Compatibility Matrix.

I guess its kind of hard for Harmonix to provide complete compatibility for a drum kit that isn't out yet, but what's with all the devs and their false promises?

There's an obscure Spinal Tap reference in there somewhere. If one of these drum sets spontaneously combust we'll know it's an evil plot.

Promises sell games. That's all there is to it.

Whether or not they get broken.... doesn't change the weight of their pockets after you bought it!

Off topic: Does the Guitar for GH:WT work for Rock Band 2 on either the PS3 or 360?

I can confirm that 1. it works and 2. it just doesn't feel as good as the GH3 guitar. The slidy bar doesn't do anything in any game other than GH4.

Nothing wrong with it, but IMO the slide bar is useless, it's just a little toy for the guys who take the game really seriously to try and master and add to their gaming accomplishments. I guess it CAN get some more of the feel of real guitar, I suppose...
