Today we have an inhouse review done by yours truly for Blitz: The League on the XBox. How will Midway do without the NFL license? Can this game fill the void left by NFL2k5? Can I really break someone's spine in the game?

you did forget to mention the sling-shot AI.
as the game gets harder, the teams seem to come from behind...even if down a ton.

This sounds pretty cool. I'm not an NFL fan by any stretch, but have always had fun playing Blitz games in the past. I'll give it a try once it hits $30.

To offer another view:
I've logged some extensive time playing the ps2 version with roommates and feel the game gets old fairly quickly. The problem is the game needed to go over the top even more. Hits rarely feel big, and the mini cutscenes between plays get old fast (fortunately, you can skip these). Additionally, injuring a player loses the wow-factor almost immediately. And in exhibition mode, there is no reason not to juice the player up. What is odd is that re-injuring the juiced up player more often than not means they can be juiced right back up again.
You cannot hit people after the play is over, the announcers get very annoying and there is no cheerleader interaction during exhibition games. When tempers flare and a team fight breaks out, the action pulls to an overhead view and you run around trying to knock other people down. This is actually even less fun than it sounds. And those same mini cutscenes can take place right after the play is called at the line of scrimmage, so you try to move your guy, and then realize another cutscene is happening a second later.
The default teams are oddly few and their jersey colors can be difficult to tell apart. Having also played hours and hours with the old Blitz (I did not like the Pro version), I would consider that a more enjoyable game, and not because of having the actual players/names.

Well damn, you sold me! :DYou sounded like the homo-erotic kind of person :D
seriously though...the way the teams pull off a comeback sometimes is downright unrealistic.
but don't get me wrong though...the game is fucking great.
