When speaking with BBC News, Media Molecule has confirmed that development has already started for the sequel to this years only game that features a walking sack as its main character. Additionally, it looks like Sony is taking a page out of the Pokemon / Viva Pinata book and may be planning a cartoon based on LBP. Shacknews has the story (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/55568):
Speaking with BBC News, the studio confirmed that a sequel is in development for the game, which allows players to make their own levels and share them online.
Beyond the sequel, Media Molecule and publisher Sony are investigating various spin-offs, such as LittleBigPlanet-branded comics, cartoons, and action figures.
In addition, technical director Alex Evans noted that some of the user-created levels seen in the recent beta--all of which will be available for download when the servers switch on--were better and harder than some of those made internally by the team.
Being a pretty small shop, shouldn't MM be working on that online co-op patch whole hog first?
The coders of MM are probably working on the patch(es) while those working with art and whatnot are thinking forward.

Or some bucket load of content for this, I mean, this is a community game right. Support that, support it well, otherwise the risk of it bleeding to death is a lot bigger.
New tools, building stuff, levels made by them. Thta's what is needed. So people see this is a serious online presence. If not, and it does die, you can kiss 2 goodbye as well.
I'm not happy by this at all, they gor a lot of work to do to make it work already. It's still not even clear if this will be a one month wonder or a not. Talk of a sequel is BS at this point.

Good point menage, I also figured they'd be putting more tools and stuff into the game.

I agree, but games are so expensive that developers/publishers almost have to use art and other assets in sequels and spin-offs to justify the investment.
That cow better be ready to give off milk, because it's going to be quite firmly and repeatedly milked for a while! The cow costs too much, otherwise!

Isn't that why DLC was created this generation though. I mean, I'm not a big fan of payed DLC but this game seems made for it.
Maybe it's too hard too implement by having one user having building blocks others can't use because they haven't bought them. But you could make them free to play, but builders have to buy them if they really want to make some wicked stuff. Hell, New level packs including new build stuff on a DLC planet or something. There's opportunity for oodles of cash to be made in this game if thought out properly

What's wrong with it? It doesn't exist yet.

 I just played online with two other people without any issues. Perhaps you mean co-op create mode (which I haven't tried yet, so don't know if its in or not yet).
