So now we all know (http://evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67971) that Star Wars: The Old Republic is real, and is coming to PCs. However, according to a story over at 1Up, EA Games president Frank Gibeau has stated that they are considering not only bringing SW:TOC to consoles, but also bringing Warhammer Online over as well.

"We're definitely looking at the opportunity to bring the MMO experience to console, without question," Gibeau said when speaking to Eurogamer. "We've got this product, and we've got Warhammer at play. So we're trying to look at the primary research required to understand how would you deploy it, what the client size looks like, how big is the back-end, what the play experience looks like... Once we've got some of those questions answered, we'll be able to decide which is the right play to go after."

When pressed whether he was specifically talking about the potential of console versions for both WAR and TOR (those acronyms fit together nicely, huh?), Gibeau replied, "They're both under consideration," although he also added, "We're not really in a place to commit or announce anything specific with regards to those." But by the sound of it, it sure seems as if there's a high probability we'll be seeing a console version of at least one of these games eventually.

'The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind.'

Hehe, nice quote at the end.

Since KOTOR debuted on a console that's not much of a shocker. In fact the bigger shocker is that there already isnt a large established MMO on 360 already, its been a long time coming.

Wow I might not have to upgrade this would be awesome if it shares the PC servers a la FFXI.

What made FFXI viable on consoles was the menu-based interface and the slower combat. I wouldn't mind seeing that again - at least the slower, more tactical combat.

I've known a Bioware QA guy working on this now here in Austin for almost 15 months. if QA has been involved that long, why was the announcement so sparse?

No way in hell you could play Warhammer Online with a controller, maybe if they included a mouse and keyboard option but I spam way to many abilities pvping in WAR. Just could not see doing it on a controller. Whoever did would be at a big disadvantage.

Wait, I thought the original KOTOR was an MMO. Those were NPCs? But they were stupid. I figured they were 13-year-olds...

Well, maybe if they fought you, champ.

I've seen it in action. Slash, slash, kick, kick. You're saying there aren't enough buttons on a console? But Soul Calibur seams to work...

Greed? are you kidding? this is the best news ever. I will happily give EA my $60 +$20 monthly to play The Old Republic on my 360. It would be much nicer than paying $600+ to upgrade my PC

You can't just port a PC game that uses that many buttons to a console.
Any console MMO that's aiming to be more than a niche Phantasy Star-type title is going to need to ditch the keyboard/mouse and design for the gamepad/couch.

You'd need to redesign substantial parts of WARHAMMER online to make it work. And there's no way you could have cross-platform play.

I say they port it and package it with a keyboard/mouse deal. Sell it at $70-$80, people will buy it. I would.

QA should be involved right in the beginning or even before the production cycle ... I think what you are thinking of is QC which happens after production ... but I agree, why wait so long before giving us scraps of info on it ...

Uh I dont think so, some classes have situational/positional combat skills or skill chains. Not to mention special abilities. I think in a average 7 second fight I can hit 10 different abilities using my high level character. And it depends on what other kind of class I am trying to kill. If its a tank I am spamming one set of abilities, if its a caster I am spamming another set of abilities. I do all this with mouse clicking, i dont even use hotkeys 1-10 like lots of people do. I am sorry but a controller pointer doesnt even move fast enough on the screen to accomplish this.

It is a LOT more than kick kick slash slash.....

So greed is good now? Ok, I thought it was one of the seven deadly sins but I guess times change...

Anyway on topic I really don't care as long as they make a good game with good suppport for each platform they can release it on how many platforms they wan't. If you screw it up because you release on more platforms that you can handle however. Then you can all burn in hell!

Seems like DC Universe Online might not have the 360 MMORPG market to itself anymore....

Or at all, since it's not coming to the 360. That's a PS3 game.
