Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the PC version of its highly anticipated new survival co-op game, Left 4 Dead, is available for pre-purchase worldwide via Steam, a leading online platform for the distribution and management of PC games with over 15 million accounts worldwide.

Left 4 Dead is a new franchise from Valve, and has earned numerous awards it march to launch this holiday, including "Best of E3" Awards from Game Infomer and Maximum PC magazines. Like the pre-purchase promotions happening at retail for the PC and Xbox 360 versions, those who pre-purchase via Steam will save 10% off the regular price. The pre-order promotions are part of a $10 million marketing campaign that includes television, outdoor, online and print advertising.

It's also 10% off if your preorder it for the 360 at Gamestop. You know, if the console version is your thing. Me? I'll get the 360 version at launch, like I did with TF2, then move over to the PC one 6 months later. :)

I watched the trailer/teaser thing.. are the sounds really the same as CS?? Man that kinda sucks. I hate hearing that generic CS footstep sound.

for some reason my amazon cart order for L4D is at 53.99 fir 360. Must have been a discounted price one day. Nuts and bolts is also 10% in my order bank

But really you're only saying 5$... (which I find weird because another game is advertised as 5$ off.. while this one is 10% off.. and they're both the same $ amounts saved vs total...)

The fact that L4D is apparently being sold at $50 kind of irks me compared to the value that The Orange Box had at roughly the same price.

Going to be getting the boxed version - the Canadian Dollar isn't what it used to be against the US so purchasing it through Steam doesn't make sense right now... too bad :(
