From 1up (http://www.1up.com) we learn that some retailers are refusing to stock the excellent DS synth program/game, KORG DS-10. Apparently due to price.

The KORG DS-10 music-making software will be hard to find among popular video game retailers, 1UP has learned from the developers. Eager synth fans have noticed that the game can't be found on the Web sites for GameStop/EBGames, leading some to think that it's an Amazon exclusive. The real story, however, is that GameStop simply refuses to carry the item, and they aren't the only ones leaning that direction. Best Buy is also hesitant to stock the item at the $39.99 retail price, but hasn't refused outright. If you happen to be looking forward to composing your own tracks, you may want to look at Amazon or smaller non-chain retailers to stock the software. Though a release date isn't set in stone, our source says they are looking to release it on November 4 if all goes well in the manufacturing process.

Interesting that this hasn't happened with other higher priced DS games.

Fools don't see the value of KORG on a DS. Gods, I'd pay twice that for this. I'll be making some hardcore EBM electo in no time! Like I'll see if I can make a clone of Lassigue Bendthaus's Cloned!

And besides, where's the outage at all the other $40 DS titles that have existed in the past?

I hadn't heard anything at all about this. Is it just a synth or is it a synth + Sequencer cause that would be brillliant fun to play about with.

I would have expected this cart to show up at music stores (L&M, Zzounds, etc.). Seems like a more reasonable place for it than some gaming centric store.

Definitely has my interested piqued, could definitely be a useful and fun synth.

Cheers

Ok so it's based on the MS-10 apparently, but from the screenshots I have seen it looks like it has two oscillators. Looks like a pretty groovy toy and could be a useful scratchpad to have to hand.

Reason DS would be something amazing though. I can dream.

The Wii video channel has a lengthy discussion/demonstration with the producer for those that are interested.

There's plenty of DS games that cost $39.99. I know, I've bought several. Maybe the real complaint is price vs. expected sales? "We don't think your niche product at a premium price will sell enough for us to be interested in stocking it?"

Well, that's what Amazon is for. They're like the Sears catalog of the 21st century. No matter where you live, Amazon will get you stuff no one else will.

Yeah, it's too bad Sears didn't think of it first, huh? All Amazon was good for was textbooks when I was in college. Now they account for 80% of the non food and clothing items I buy.

$40? Really? I have the japanese import, and it's awesome. I just don't see that many people plunking down $40 for a DS tool. Save for DS playing muscians...
