The guys behind the upcoming Legendary and Mushroom Men have been bought up by the guys responsible for bringing Monster Madness and Two Worlds into the marketplace. Bluesnews reports (http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewstory&threadid=92220):

MCV reports that independent games-oriented publisher SouthPeak has purchased similarly indie-focused publisher Gamecock. Word is the titles in development under the Gamecock umbrella will now be released under the SouthPeak label, including Mushroom Men and Legendary, which are due this quarter. They offer quotes, from both sides of the deal: SouthPeak CEO Melanie Mroz is "excited," and Gamecock CEO Mike Wilson is "thrilled."

SouthPeak reported a big leap in profits not long ago. They almost seemed surprised.

Have either company put out anything good?

Wow! One maker of horribly crappy games buys another maker of horribly crappy games in a desperate attempt at survival. These companies together have released nothing but garbage, and their pipeline at PAX was also garbage. Don't know how they stay in business. The closest thing to something decent was Legendary, but I was totally disappointed by its demo at PAX.

I think Legendary looks excellent, though I am biased since I have a huge thing for mythological creatures.

Still, I think it has loads of potential. I just hope it lives up to it.

If you played Turning Point then you have very low expectations of Legendary. Super generic with half a decent story concept.

Once again Mike Wilson cons a bunch of desperate developers into signing with him in order to avoid the tyranny of the publishers, only to sell them off to the only bidder he can find while he walks off with the money.

Wilson would have been right at home in the mortgage industry.

Yeah, well I love Mythical creatures. But when I tried Legendary at PAX it looked and played like crap. As a big a diasappointment as Hellgate London. But we shall see....

Does everybody remember the war of words between Mike Wilson and some other guy who basically said he was doing just this.
